5 Creative Ways to Turn Bottles Into Lights

Bottles seem to multiply and become quite a presence in our lives. But instead of just drinking whatever liquid comes in them and discarding them, there are several ways to make them bring light into our life. 5-Minute Crafts will show you some of these.

Glass bottles

1. Light kit

What you’ll need:

  • An empty bottle that you think is cool
  • A bottle lamp kit, found in hardware stores
  • A shade
  • A light bulb

How to do it:

  • When buying the lamp kit, verify that it will fit into the opening in your bottle. Corked bottles usually have an opening of 0.75 inches in diameter.
  • Place the lamp kit inside the bottle.
  • Place the lamp shade in its place.
  • Screw in the light bulb. The lamp should be operational.

2. Fairy light or Christmas light bottle

What you’ll need:

  • Empty glass bottles
  • String lights or Christmas lights

How to do it:

  • Wash the bottles.
  • Place the lights inside the bottle.
  • Turn on your DIY lamp.

3. Lava lamp

What you’ll need:

  • A jar for mixing
  • Glass bottle
  • Highlighter pen
  • Oil
  • Aspirin

How to do it:

  • Fill the jar with water.
  • Place the highlighter pen inside and let the ink run into the water.
  • Funnel the inky water into a glass bottle.
  • Fill the rest of the bottle with oil.
  • Place the aspirin inside.
  • The aspirin will create the lava lamp effect. Increase it by placing a light under the bottle.

Plastic bottles

1. DIY Clouds

What you’ll need:

  • Plastic bottle
  • LED strip lights
  • Cotton wool
  • Hot glue

How to do it:

  • Get your plastic bottle and place the LED strip inside
  • Gradually spread hot glue on the bottle and place the cotton wool on it. Do it in parts.
  • Turn the light on and there’s your cloud.

2. Spoon lamp

What you’ll need:

  • Plastic bottle
  • Plastic spoons
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue
  • Lamp kit

How to do it:

  • Cut your bottle to the desired length.
  • Cut the spoons with the scissors, leaving only the spoon part.
  • Glue them tightly around the bottle, starting from the top
  • Once you have your DIY lamp shade, pass the lamp kit wire through the bottle cap.
  • Install it wherever you want.
