8 Easy Paper School Crafts That Will Save Your Money

1. Funny Frog Craft

You will need:

  • Colored card stock
  • Straw
  • Aluminum foil
  • Glue

How to do it:

  • Cut a circle from colored card stock and fold it in half.
  • At the straight base of the semicircle, cut a small triangle whose base coincides with the fold of the paper.
  • Add details like eyes, nose, and cheeks.
  • Cut a rectangle of aluminum foil and roll it into a tube using the straw.
  • Remove the straw almost to the exterior and secure it with tape, then roll the rest of the aluminum foil onto itself until it reaches the straw.
  • Insert the straw into the triangle cut in the center of the circle and blow through the straw to make our funny frog stick out its tongue.

2. Hungry Dinosaur

You will need:

  • Disposable Paper Cups
  • Colored card stock
  • Thread
  • Scissors and Glue

How to do it:

  • Cut the disposable paper cup vertically in half.
  • Insert a string into the upper half of its base, and thread the same string through the base of another disposable paper cup, without piercing it, from the outside to the inside, then pull the string outward from below.
  • Use card stock to cut out details like eyes, teeth, and arms.
  • See how pulling the string makes this friendly dinosaur open and close its mouth.

3. Organizer

You will need:

  • Card stock
  • Glue

How to do it:

  • Fold two cardboard rectangles into an accordion shape.
  • Place the paper pieces facing each other and at each fold, and glue another card stock rectangle to each end.
  • Cut one final cardboard rectangle with triple the width to be placed as an outer cover.

4. Pencil Umbrella

You will need:

  • Colored card stock
  • Glue
  • Pencil

How to do it:

  • Cut circles from colored card stock.
  • Fold them in half, and then fold the resulting semicircle in half again.
  • Glue the folded circles on top of one another.
  • Attach the pencil to the paper and glue the ends of the paper around the pencil to form the umbrella.

5. Pin the Eye on the Fish

You will need:

  • Cardboard
  • Colored card stock
  • Plastic bottles with caps
  • Paints
  • Hot glue

How to do it:

  • Cut the cardboard into a curved shape and paint it blue.
  • On the colored card stock, draw and cut out fish shapes.
  • Cut the top part of the bottles, the threaded portion, and glue the fish at eye level onto the bottles.
  • Paint each cap in the color corresponding to the respective fish and, once the paint is dry, attach a small plastic eye.

6. Airplane 2.0

You will need:

  • Card stock
  • Straw
  • Glue

How to do it:

  • Create a small cardboard cone.
  • Insert it into and glue it to one end of the straw.
  • Cut a cardboard rectangle and attach the straw.

7. Nightlight Lamp

You will need:

  • Pizza box
  • Cutter
  • Wax paper
  • Lights

How to do it:

  • Cut the desired design into the lid of the pizza box.
  • Attach the wax paper to the inside over the design.
  • Insert the lights inside the box.

8. Cardboard Lantern

You will need:

  • Cardboard
  • Wax paper
  • Lamp

How to do it:

  • Cut a hexagon from the cardboard.
  • Attach the lamp to the hexagon.
  • Cut six equal rectangles and glue them to the base hexagon.
  • Repeat the previous step, making the walls of this hexagon one-fourth smaller than the previous ones.
  • Place the wax paper inside the larger hexagon and position the smaller hexagon on top as a lid.
