8 Everyday Hacks That Can Make Life Easier

Life hacks are always great for when you need to get out of a challenging situation. Knowing the right tricks for emergencies will always benefit you and those around you. That’s why 5-Minute Crafts loves to share our favorite practical hacks.

1. Phone holder

What you need:

  • Flip-flops
  • A pencil
  • A cutter
  • A small scoop
  • A phone

How to do it:

  1. Take a pair of flip-flops.
  2. Choose one (left or right) and turn it upside down.
  3. Place your phone on the flip-flop and, with a pencil, trace around it.
  4. Follow the outline with a cutter. Don’t go too deep, just enough to fit your phone.
  5. Now inside the marked area, cut lines into small square shapes.
  6. Take a small scoop.

7. With the small scoop, scrape out the excess material to make a smooth frame-like shape and place your phone inside.

8. Enjoy hands-free video calls and more.

2. A fan as an air freshener

What you need:

  • 4+ bandages
  • Your favorite essential oil
  • A fan

How to do it:

  1. Take a bandage and peel the sides a bit to expose the middle.
  2. Add a few drops of essential oil.
  3. Do this with the number of bandages you need, depending on the size of the fan, and stick them on the fan.
  4. Turn the fan on and enjoy the fresh and scented air.

3. The broken lock hack

What you need:

  1. Set aside the broken part of the key.
  2. Add some hot silicon to the part of the key stuck inside the lock.
  3. Place the broken piece on the key stuck inside the lock.
  4. Let it cool and open the lock.

4. Scented fresh air inside your car

  1. Take a scented wet tissue.
  2. Place a small part of it inside the car’s vent.
  3. Turn the ventilation on and enjoy some fresh air.

5. A candle that repels insects

What you need:

  • A candle in a glass container
  • A pot with water
  • Citronella oil
  • A metal stick
  • Candlewick
  • A pencil

How to do it:

  1. Pour water into a pot and place it on the stove. Turn it to medium-high heat, and once it starts simmering, place the candle in the center.
  2. When the candle is melted, take the candlewick out with tweezers.
  3. Put a few drops of citronella oil on top.
  4. Mix with a metal stick.
  5. Roll a candlewick around the middle of a pencil and let the wick hang inside the wax.

6. Directed cool air from a fan

How to do it:

  1. Put the pants on the fan, like you are dressing it up.
  2. Turn on the fan and enjoy the cool air with a friend.

7. An emergency shower head

  1. If full, empty the plastic bottle.
  2. With a knife, carefully poke some holes at the bottom of the bottle.
  3. Place the opening of the bottle on the shower tube.
  4. Secure the bottle with tape.
  5. Enjoy the fact that you just saved the day and your nice shower.
