9 Fantastic cement crafts to elevate your home decor

What you’ll need

  • Moulding alginate
  • Cement plaster
  • Gypsum plaster
  • Acrylic and spray paint
  • School glue and hot glue
  • Metal leaf and foil
  • Balloons
  • Containers of different sizes and shapes

1. Make a foot plant pot

How to do it:

  • Put your foot in a container with alginate
  • Pour cement into the hole you made with your foot
  • Put a balloon barely inflated in the top part of the cement and make a hole with it
  • Pop the balloon and let the cement dry
  • Take the alginate off to reveal the shape

Final touches:

  • Paint the foot with your preferred colors
  • Put some soil in the top hole and place a plant in it

2. A new handle for your cups

How to do it:

  • Introduce your hand with your fingers open, in a container with alginate
  • Pour gypsum in the holes you left with your fingers
  • Take the alginate off, when the gypsum is dry
  • Glue each finger to the side of a cup
  • Spray paint the cup

3. Lines pattern on your plant pots

How to do it:

  • Stick a yarn, making curves, around a cement pot
  • Cover the rope with cement
  • Pull it out before the cement is dry

4. Cement self-portrait

How to do it:

  • Print your face on a container with alginate
  • Fill the shape with gypsum
  • Take it out when it’s dry
  • Spread school glue on the face and stick the metal leaf
  • Glue some foil around to decorate

5. Inverted pyramid pot

How to do it:

  • Spread some cement on a plastic film
  • Press a circular container on the cement
  • Take the circle out and build the inverted pyramid around a bowl facing down
  • Let it dry, turn the bowl up and place your preferred plant in it

6. A mushroom lamp

How to do it:

  • Using hot glue, stick the mouth of a glass cup to the bottom of a bowl
  • Turn the bowl up, fill it with cement and let it dry
  • Fill another bowl with cement
  • Fill another bowl with cement, put the first one in it, with the cup facing down and keep them distanced them with pieces of wood
  • Let it dry and put some garland inside the cup

7. Hands holding a lightbulb

How to do it:

  • Hold a banana in your hands and put them in a bucket with alginate
  • Take your hands out and fill the space with cement
  • Let it dry and take the shape out
  • Remove the banana and paint the hands
  • Place a lightbulb in the space where the banana was

8. A coffee maker

How to do it:

  • Pour cement into a rectangular container
  • Put a tall pipe inside it and another pipe on top
  • Place a glass funnel and a coffee filter in the pipe hole

9. An egg planter

How to do it:

  • Blow a balloon up and cover three quarters of it with cement
  • Let the cement dry and pop the balloon
  • Paint the cement pot and place your preferred plant in it
