How to Make Coffee Grounds Christmas Ornaments
Christmas ornaments serve as fancy reminders to get in the holiday spirit in time for the Christmas countdown. Instead of purchasing decorations, it’s possible to make them at home with just a few ingredients according to what you like.
5-Minute Crafts will show you in 3 steps how to make eco-friendly, zero-waste Christmas ornaments from recycled coffee grounds.
You’ll need:
- 1 cup of dry ground coffee
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup of salt
- 1/2 cup of water or coffee
- 1 bowl
- Parchment paper
- Cookie cutters/casting mold (optional)
- Gloves (optional)
How to make it:
Step 1: Add the coffee grounds, flour, and salt to a bowl and combine them thoroughly. Then slowly pour water till the mixture turns into a dough. Keep on kneading your dough; if it feels sticky, add more flour.
Note: As per the coffee grounds, you can recycle the waste from the coffee you drink. Coffee grounds need to be totally dried.
Step 2: Now it’s time to sculpt, be creative, and shape the dough according to your liking. Sprinkle the surface with some flour so the dough doesn’t stick while sculpting.
Note: You can store the rest of the dough that you won’t use this time in a plastic bag in the fridge for later use.
Step 3: Let them air dry. To do so, you can place your pieces out somewhere that gets plenty of sunlight and airflow for 2 to 3 days. Make sure your pieces don’t get wet. After they are dried, you can decorate your ornaments and attach strings.
Tip: You can use a toothpick to make a small hole on the top.
