How to Reuse Toilet Paper Rolls

An average family of 4 uses about 7 toilet paper rolls in a week. Instead of throwing the paper rolls away, try to store them in a container and upcycle them to create items that can save you tons of money. Try to reuse more items and save the planet from pollution.

1. Phone holder

What you will need:

  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Colorful tape
  • Pushpins
  • Scissors

Step 1: Measure the width of the phone and draw it in the middle of the roll.
Step 2: Cut it with scissors.
Step 3: Start adding colorful tape to the roll. Make sure you are not covering the open part of the roll.
Step 4: Press 4 pushpins on the toilet paper rolls to create a stand. You can secure them with hot glue or leave them as they are.

Step 5: Put the phone inside the phone holder.

2. Gift packages

What you will need:

  • Toilet paper rolls
  • A glue stick
  • Colored paper
  • Ribbon

Step 1: Glue the colored paper on the toilet paper roll with a glue stick.
Step 2: Put the extra paper in the roll.
Step 3: Using your fingers, press on each end of the roll and fold it. Each half will bend toward the center.
Step 4: Make sure the ends are smooth by running your nail along them.

Step 5: Using a ribbon, tie the gift box and make a bow.
Step 6: The gift box is ready!

3. Makeup holder

What you will need:

  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Orange coloring paper
  • A black marker
  • Googly eyes
  • Pink-colored paper
  • White-colored paper
  • Cardboard paper
  • Hot glue
  • A glue stick

Step 1: Take 4 toilet paper rolls and cover them with pink colored paper. Repeat the process with a couple more rolls (you can decide the dimension of the rolls).
Step 2: Add some washi tape at the top of the roll.
Step 3: Draw a plate on the cardboard paper and cut it.
Step 4: Cover the cardboard paper with the same pink paper.

Step 5: Glue the rolls to the cardboard paper using a glue stick. You can use hot glue if you don’t have stick glue.
Step 6: Once it’s dry, you can add the makeup.

4. Bracelet

What you will need:

  • A toilet paper roll
  • Scissors
  • Colored paper
  • String
  • Glue
  • A paper hole puncher

Step 1: Cut the toilet paper roll widthwise.
Step 2: Find the middle of the roll and cut it once more.
Step 3: Cut 2 rectangular pieces from the colored paper. One for the outside and one for the inside.
Step 4: Glue the first piece of paper to the outside of the roll, then glue the edges on the inside part of the roll.

Step 5: You should cover the edges carefully.
Step 6: Glue the second rectangle to the inside of the toilet paper roll.
Step 7: Roll the toilet paper tube to create a bracelet.
Step 8: The bracelet is ready.

5. Wreath

What you will need:

  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Green acrylic paint
  • White glue
  • Red pom-poms
  • Scissors
  • Binder clips

Step 1: Take the toilet paper rolls and color them green.
Step 2: Once they are dry, press them smoothly with your hand.
Step 3: Cut the rings from the tube around 1 cm each.
Step 4: Using white glue, start to glue the pieces together to form a flower shape.

Step 5: Once the first flower is complete, secure them with binder clips. Repeat the process of making flowers as much as you need.
Step 6: Arrange the rest of the flowers to form a circle and glue them together.
Step 7: Add red pom-poms in the middle of each flower.
Step 8: Place them as a wall decoration or around a mirror.

6. Napkin ring

What you will need:

  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Fabric/colored paper/ ribbon
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Step 1: Cut the toilet paper rolls into 1-inch-wide rings.
Step 2: Glue the colored paper on the outside of the rings.
Step 3: Using your fingers, press the excess paper inside the roll.

Step 4: Cut part of the ribbon.
Step 5: Fold it in half from both sides.
Step 6: Put string under the ribbon and tie a knot to form a bow.
Step 7: Glue the bow to the ring, then the rings are ready.

7. Stamp

What you will need:

  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Glue
  • A plain colored shirt
  • Acrylic paints
  • Fabric marker

Step 1: Take one toilet paper roll.
Step 2: Using your fingers, press the toilet paper on one side, creating a heart shape.
Step 3: Dip the stamp into the acrylic paint.
Step 4: Press the stamp onto the tote bag and hold it for 10 seconds. Repeat this step as much as you need.

Step 5: Wait for it to dry, then the tote bag is ready.

Bonus: You can use the stamp on white paper and create colorful patterned paper for packing gifts. You can use the same technique to create different stamps or keep the circle.

8. Bird feeder

What you will need:

  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Peanut butter
  • Seeds
  • String
  • A paper hole puncher

Step 1: Take one toilet paper roll and punch 2 holes opposite each other and about an inch from the top.
Step 2: Spread a thick layer of peanut butter onto the toilet paper roll, avoiding the holes. The layer should be thick.
Step 3: Pour the bird seeds onto a plate. Roll the toilet tube around the seeds. Get as many as you can to stick to the peanut butter.
Step 4: Put a chopstick in the holes from one side of the tube and string from the other.

Step 5: The feeder is ready! Hang it on a tree.
