How to Decorate Your Halloween Party

When it comes to Halloween party decorations, you don’t have to spend a fortune at stores. With simple stationery and clever tips, you can easily adorn the party venue in no time. 5-Minute Crafts presents some Halloween decor DIYs to help you set the spooky ambiance and make your party a huge hit.

1. The tissue pumpkin

Things you’ll need:

  • Balloons
  • Tape
  • Rope
  • A pair of scissors
  • Glue
  • A bowl
  • A brush
  • Tissue paper or newspaper
  • Spray paint

Steps:


1. Inflate a balloon a little less than its maximum capacity and hold it from its neck.

2. Secure the neck by wrapping tape around it as shown in the image.

3. Keep one end of the rope near the neck and secure that end with tape.

4. Wrap the balloon with the rope from 6 directions as shown in the example.

5. Secure the other end of the rope with tape too.

6. Turn the balloon horizontally as shown and put tape over the horizontal strands of the rope too.

7. Remove the tape from the balloon neck and inflate it. Secure the neck with tape again.

8. Add some PVA glue to a bowl.

9. Place a piece of tissue or newspaper on the balloon and, with the help of a brush, apply some glue to it to make the paper stick to the balloon. Cover the balloon fully with glue and paper with the same method.

10. Now make a stem of the pumpkin with the tissue and glue and stick it on the top of the balloon to cover its neck.

11. Spray paint the pumpkin orange and the stem brown.

12. Your balloon pumpkin decor is ready.

2. Magic wands for decoration or cosplay

Things you’ll need:

  • Chopsticks
  • A glue gun
  • Thin jute rope
  • Magnet
  • Metallic paint

Steps:

1. Take one chopstick.

2. Begin putting glue on the smaller end of the chopstick.

3. Spiral the glue halfway down the chopstick as shown in the image.

4. Wrap some thin jute rope on the last part of the glue.

5. Apply some glue at the other end of the chopstick.

6. Paste the magnet onto it.

7. Paint the entire chopstick.

8. Give it detailing with metallic silver or golden color.

3. Floating candles

Things you’ll need:

  • A paper towel roll
  • A pair of scissors
  • A glue gun
  • Candle lamps
  • Transparent string

Steps:

  1. Cut a paper towel roll in half.
  2. Pour blobs of glue on one of its edges.
  3. It will look something like this. Paint it white.
  4. Place a candle lamp in the roll.
  5. Tie the transparent rope on the glued edges.
  6. Hang it from the ceiling to create a floating candle effect.

4. A Harry Potter-themed 9 3/4 wall

Things you’ll need:

  • A plate
  • Brown paint
  • A rectangular-shaped sponge
  • A sand-colored sheet or brown butter paper

Steps:

  1. Pour some paint on a plate.
  2. Press the sponge onto the paint.
  3. Dab the sponge in a neat manner to create a wall-like effect. Let it dry.
  4. Your Harry Potter-themed wall is ready.

5. The balloon, boo!

Things you’ll need:

  • A bowl
  • Glue
  • Water
  • A cheesecloth
  • 2 small balloons on separate sticks
  • 1 big balloon on a stick
  • Black paper

Steps

  1. Pour some glue into a bowl.
  2. Add some water to it. Mix them.
  3. Take a cheesecloth.
  4. Mix it in the glue-water mixture.

5. Now make a balloon stand in a small bucket or pot. The balloon stand must look something like the image shown above.

6. Spread the cheesecloth over the balloon stand.

7. Let it dry.

8. Make a pair of wide eyes with a black sheet and stick them on the biggest balloon.

9. Burst the balloons with a pin and remove the balloon stand.

10. Your cute “boo” is ready!

6. The puking jack-o-lantern

Things you’ll need:

  • A carved jack-o-lantern
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Dish soap
  • Food coloring
  • Yeast

Steps:

  1. Take a carved jack-o-lantern and remove its lid.
  2. Put some hydrogen peroxide inside the pumpkin.
  3. Pour in some dish soap.
  4. Add a few drops of food coloring.
  5. Lastly, add some yeast to the mixture, place the lid back on the pumpkin, and wait.
  6. Your puking jack-o-lantern is ready.

7. Glittery pumpkins

Things you’ll need:

  • A pumpkin
  • A plate
  • Glitter
  • Glue
  • A paint brush

Steps:

  1. Brush glue all over a pumpkin.
  2. Put a lot of glitter on a plate and roll the pumpkin onto it.
  3. The pumpkin will look something like this.
  4. Your glittery pumpkin is ready.

8. Boo string lights

Things you’ll need:

  • White ping pong balls
  • A brush
  • Glue
  • A cutter
  • A cheesecloth or bandage
  • A black sheet
  • String lights

Steps:

  1. Take a ping pong ball and make an “X” cut as directed in the image above.
  2. Brush some glue over the cut.
  3. Place the glued part onto a cheesecloth or bandage.
  4. Put the pair of eyes made by a black sheet.
  5. Fit a string of lights into the hole of the ball.
  6. Make a lot of balls like this and your “boo” string lights are ready.

9. Glow-in-the-dark skeleton hangings

Things you’ll need:

  • A printout of a skeleton
  • Butter paper
  • A glue gun
  • Some ribbon for hanging the skeleton
  • A marker

Steps:

  1. Have a printout of a skeleton ready.
  2. Put butter paper over the printout.
  3. Outline the skeleton of the butter paper with the help of a glue gun. Don’t outline the skull yet.
  4. Keep a small ribbon on the skull as shown in the image above. Then outline the skull with the glue, making sure the part of the ribbon is included in it too.
  5. Make the eyes and the teeth of the skull with a marker.
  6. Hang it with the rest of the Halloween decorations.

10. The halloween banner

Things you’ll need:

  • A spooky alphabet printout
  • Mounting foam
  • A plastic sheet

Steps:

  1. Have a spooky alphabet printout ready.
  2. Place a plastic sheet on the paper and outline the letter with mounting foam.
  3. Let it dry and pluck the letter out from the plastic sheet carefully.
  4. Create more such letters to have an event banner ready.
