3 Healthy Pizza Dough Recipes

Pizza is generally considered junk food because it contains refined flour, saturated fats, and excessive carbohydrates. However, this meal can shift to a healthy option if we make some changes to its ingredients. We’ll then be able to indulge in pizza without breaking our diet or having it as a “guilt-free” treat.

5-Minute Crafts wants to share 3 pizza recipes with you that have no processed flours or low-quality fat. By the way, they’re also vegan.

Flourless cauliflower pizza dough

  • 1 large cauliflower, chopped

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese

  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese

  • 1 tbsp salt (to boil the cauliflower)

  • A pinch of salt (for the dough)

  • A pinch of pepper

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425ºF. Bring water to a boil with a tablespoon of salt. Add the cauliflower and cook it for 5 minutes until tender.

Transfer the cauliflower to a strainer and drain. Cut the vegetable into small pieces and put the drained cauliflower into a food processor. Process until you get a fine powder that will serve as a flour replacement.

In a bowl, mix the cauliflower with the egg, salt, pepper, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 20 minutes until the dough is golden brown. Take it out of the oven and add the sauces and toppings of your choice. You can season your pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, cherry tomatoes, and basil leaves. If you’d like, you can put the tray back into the oven for about 5 minutes until the cheeses melt.

Gluten-free potato pizza dough

  • ¼ cup gluten-free oatmeal

  • 6 medium potatoes

  • 3 tbsp of butter

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 3/4 cup cornstarch

  • 1 1/2 tsp fine salt

  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425ºF and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Bring the water to boil in a pot and add the potatoes. Cook them for 25 to 30 minutes until they’re tender. Take them out and place them on a plate to chill for 15 minutes. Remove the excess water.

Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl: Salt, garlic powder, yeast, oatmeal, and cornstarch. Then chop the potatoes into small pieces and pass them through a food processor until you get a uniform mixture. Add the dry ingredients and butter to a food processor and mix until you get the dough.

Put the dough on the baking sheet and spread it evenly. Bake it for 15 minutes. Take the golden dough out of the oven and complete the pizza with the ingredients you prefer. We recommend tomato sauce, Gruyère cheese, and sliced eggplant. Put your pizza back into the oven until the cheese is melted.

Plantain based pizza dough

  • 3 plantains

  • ⅓ cup of water

  • ⅓ cup olive oil

  • 3 garlic cloves

  • 1 tsp of salt

  • ½ tsp baking soda

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425ºF and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Put the plantains into a food processor and blend until you get a thick mixture. Add the olive oil, water, garlic cloves, salt, and baking soda.

Transfer the mixture to a baking sheet and spread it in a circle or whatever shape you prefer. Bake the dough for 25 minutes until the top turns a dark golden color.

Take the tray out of the oven and add the ingredients you want as toppings. We recommend tomato sauce, cheese, black olives, red peppers, and onions. Put your pizza back in to melt the cheese for about 5 minutes.
