How to Eat Avocados

1. Seasoned
Ingredients:
- 2 avocados, pitted, scooped, and sliced
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
How to make it:
- Slice the avocado in half and remove the pit.
- Scoop the avocado and cut it into slices.
- Place the slices on a platter.
- Drizzle them with olive oil and lemon juice.
- Season with salt and pepper.
2. Stuffed
Ingredients:
- 3 sliced avocados
- 1 lemon (for its juice)
- 1/3 diced cucumber
- 1 cored and diced bell pepper
- 1 diced jalapeno (seeds removed)
- 1/4 diced red onion or 1 small shallot
- 1 minced garlic clove or 1/3 tsp — 1/4 tsp of garlic powder
- A small handful of diced grape tomatoes
- 2 tbsp — 4 tbsp of hummus or mayo
- Salt and pepper
How to make it:
- Slice the avocados in half and remove the pit.
- Squeeze the lemon juice on the flesh (to prevent the avocado from browning).
- Place the cucumber, bell pepper, jalapeno, onion, garlic, and diced tomatoes in a mixing bowl.
- Add the hummus or mayo — just enough to bind all the ingredients together.
- Fill the top of the avocados with this mixture and top it with salt and pepper.
- Squeeze some more lemon on top.
3. Guacamole
Ingredients:
- 3 ripe avocados
- 1/2 of a small, finely diced onion
- 2 diced tomatoes
- 3 tbsp of chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 finely diced jalapeno pepper (with the seeds removed)
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1 lime (juiced)
- 1/2 tsp of sea salt
How to make it:
- Slice the avocados in half and remove the pits and the skin.
- Place them in a bowl.
- Mash them with a fork and make it chunky or smooth, depending on how you like it.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and mix it all together.
4. Dressing
Ingredients:
- 1 large avocado
- 1 peeled clove of garlic
- 1/2 tbsp of fresh lime or lemon juice
- 3 tbsp of olive oil
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 1/4 tsp of ground black pepper
- Water, as needed (should be around 1/4 cup)
How to make it:
- Slice the avocado and remove the pit and skin.
- In a food processor, add the garlic, avocado, lime or lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Process everything until smooth.
- Add some water to thin the dressing and reach the desired consistency.
- Keep it in a container and use it for up to 4 days after making it.
5. Pudding
Ingredients:
- 1 whole avocado
- 1 cup of coconut milk
- 2 tsp of honey
How to make it:
- Slice the avocado and remove the pit and skin.
- Put it in a blender with the coconut milk and honey until it’s all smooth.
- Serve it in short glasses.
6. Fries
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces or 2 small avocados, peeled, pitted, and cut into 16 wedges
- 1 large lightly beaten egg
- 3/4 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1 1/4 tsp of lime chili seasoning salt
- How to make them:
- Preheat the oven to 425ºF.
- Place the beaten egg in a shallow bowl.
- On a plate, combine the breadcrumbs and lime chili seasoning salt.
- Dip the slices in egg and then in the breadcrumbs with the lime chili seasoning salt before setting them aside.
- Transfer them to a baking sheet and wait for them to get golden and crispy, which should take around 10 to 15 minutes.
