How to Make 15-Hour Potatoes

Potatoes can be cooked in a number of different ways, which may be the reason why people get so creative when it comes to this vegetable. If you are a fan of fried food and would like to try a new snack, you’ve come to the right place.

5-Minute Crafts will teach you how to make this potato recipe that has become popular because of its delicious flavor.

What you’ll need:

  • A bowl
  • A standard bread loaf pan
  • A deep frying pan
  • A mandoline slicer
  • Parchment paper

Ingredients:

  • 5 medium-sized potatoes, peeled
  • 1 1/2 tsp of kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup of liquid duck fat (or beef tallow)
  • Neutral oil for deep frying

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven at 250ºF.

2. Meanwhile, slice the potatoes with a mandoline.

3. Place the sliced potatoes into a bowl and mix them with the duck fat and 1 tsp of kosher salt until they’re fully covered.

  • Note: If the duck fat or beef tallow is solid, put it in the microwave and warm it for a few seconds until it becomes liquid.

4. Put a piece of parchment paper into the loaf pan and lay the sliced potatoes in it.

  • Compress the sliced potatoes to make sure there are no air pockets and be sure there’s duck fat between each layer.
  • When you’re finished, cover the potatoes with parchment paper.

5. Bake the potatoes for 3 hours.

Check if your potatoes are done by inserting a knife through them. If it can be pierced into the potatoes easily, they’re ready.

6. Once baked, place another loaf pan or bowl over the potatoes and weigh them down with 2 bags or cans of food.

7. Place the potatoes in the fridge for 12 hours.

8. Gently remove the potatoes from the loaf pan and cut them into medium-sized pieces.

9. Deep fry the potato pieces until they’re crispy.

10. Sprinkle some kosher salt over the potatoes and enjoy.
