How to Make Chocolate Bombs

When it’s cold outside, we want to warm our homes up with something cozy. Oftentimes, all you need to do for this is to wrap yourself in a blanket, turn on your favorite movie, and enjoy sipping a hot cocoa drink. If you want to surprise yourself and your loved ones with something unique, try making chocolate bombs that turn a glass of hot milk into a nice cocoa drink with melting marshmallows.

5-Minute Crafts reveals all the secrets of the recipe that conquered thousands of hearts with its simplicity and fascinating ideas.

Kitchen utensils

  • round silicone forms

  • a couple of bowls

  • a whisk

  • a teaspoon

Ingredients

  • chocolate

  • mini marshmallows

  • cocoa

  • sugar

The amount depends on the size of the bomb: if the forms are big (like in the photo above), then you’ll get 3 big bombs from one 90-100 g chocolate bar. The amount of cocoa, sugar, and marshmallows depends on your personal preferences. One bomb is one portion of a drink that’s why don’t put too many ingredients into it.

How to make

1. Finely chop the chocolate, put it into a bowl, and melt it. To do this, place the bowl into the microwave oven for 30 seconds or melt it using a water bath. Stir the mass so that it becomes homogenous.

Tip: If the chocolate is too thick, add 2-3 tbsp of water and stir again. In order to make the chocolate taste more intense, add a pinch of salt into the mass and mix well.

2. Using a spoon, place the melted chocolate mass into the forms so that it only covers the walls. Move from bottom to top to distribute the chocolate evenly. Put in the fridge for 10 minutes. Take it out and add a second layer. Then cool it down again in the fridge for 10 minutes. Preserve some of the chocolate to use for gluing the halves together later on.

3. Mix cocoa and sugar in a separate bowl to get a homogenous dry mixture. Take the cups for the chocolate bombs out of the silicone forms.

4.Pour the cocoa and marshmallow mixture into one half. Apply the chocolate leftovers on the edge of the second half and attach it to the first half so that you get a closed ball. Remove the excess chocolate with a spoon. Put the bombs into the fridge.

5. They’ll be ready in 10 minutes. Place a bomb into a mug and pour hot milk over top of the ball. Stir with a spoon and wait until the chocolate starts to melt and release the surprise inside.

Tip: You can cook bombs with different types of stuffing. Try adding various syrups, cinnamon, cardamom, powdered sugar, or even hot chili together with the cocoa.
