How to Make Christmas Hot Chocolate
There is no doubt that it’s always nice to have a mug of hot chocolate, no matter the season or your location. However, it can be the perfect drink to warm you up over the holidays, especially if you live in the Northern Hemisphere.
5-Minute Crafts has compiled 4 recipes to make different types of hot chocolate with a holiday vibe.
Condensed milk hot chocolate
Ingredients:
- 4 cups of milk
- 1/4 cup of hot cocoa mix
- 1/2 cup of condensed milk (sweetened)
- 2 tbsp of sugar
- 2 tsp of vanilla extract
- Whipped cream
- Cocoa sprinkles
Instructions:
- In a saucepan, heat the milk at medium heat. Then, incorporate all the other ingredients except the whipped cream and cocoa sprinkles. Stir frequently until you get a smooth mixture.
- Remove from the heat, and pour into mugs. Top with whipped cream and sprinkles.
Marshmallow creme hot chocolate
Ingredients:
- 4 cups of milk
- 1/4 cup of baking cocoa (unsweetened)
- 3/4 of marshmallow creme
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/3 cup of hot water
- 1/4 tsp of ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp or a small stick of ground cinnamon
- Candy canes (optional)
Instructions:
- In a saucepan over low heat, pour the water and add the sugar, cocoa, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir frequently until you get a smooth mixture. Then, wait until it boils.
- Reduce the heat even more and simmer for 4 minutes. Keep on stirring. Then, incorporate the milk and mix until the mixture is hot.
- Pour the hot chocolate into the mugs, top with the marshmallow creme and decorate with the candy canes.
Peppermint white hot chocolate
Ingredients:
- 5 cups of milk
- 1/3 cup of heavy whipping cream
- 1 1/2 cup of white baking chocolate (in small pieces)
- 3/4 tsp of peppermint extract
- 4 tsp of crushed peppermint candies
- Marshmallows (optional)
Instructions:
- Beat the heavy cream until you see stiff peaks on it. Add 1 tsp of crushed candy and set it aside.
- Pour the milk into a saucepan and heat until bubbles start forming on the sides.
- Incorporate the chocolate and stir constantly. Once you get a smooth mixture, remove it from the heat and add the peppermint extract.
- Pour the hot chocolate into mugs, top with the whipped cream, the remaining candy, and marshmallows. Serve while it’s still hot.
Gingerbread hot chocolate
Ingredients:
- 3 cups of milk
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 of cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp of molasses
- 1 1/2 tsp of powdered ginger
- 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon powder
- 1/2 tsp of ground allspice
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- Whipped cream
Instructions:
- In a saucepan, add some milk and incorporate the other ingredients, except the vanilla extract and whipped cream. Heat over medium heat.
- Pour the remaining milk gradually and stir until the mixture is smooth and hot.
- Remove from the heat, and pour in the vanilla extract. Then, serve the hot chocolate in mugs and top with the whipped cream.
