How to Make Homemade Yogurt
Homemade yogurts are delicious and creamy and are much healthier than the store-bought ones. 5-Minute Crafts will show you how easy it is to make your own if you follow the right steps.
What you will need:
- 1.5 liters of full-fat milk
- Small pot
- Towels
- Bowl
- Spoon
- 1 tbsp of store-bought yogurt
Note: To make your first homemade yogurt from scratch you will need a store-bought yogurt, but after that you can always save a batch of the previous homemade yogurt to make a new one.
Step 1
Pour 1.5 liters of full-fat milk inside your pot and let it boil.
Step 2
Make sure to stir the milk from time to time so it doesn’t stick to the bottom.
Step 3
When the milk reaches its boiling point, turn off the stove and let the milk cool until it reaches a temperature between 108-112ºF.
Note: If you don’t have a thermometer, you can check the temperature with your finger — it’s at the right temperature when your finger just starts to tolerate the heat.
Step 4
Transfer the milk to a container. You can use any kind of container.
Step 5
Now, put a tablespoon of store bought yogurt in a bowl and mix it with around 4 tablespoons of the milk that’s inside the container.
Step 6
Once it’s well mixed, pour the mixture inside the container and mix it as well.
Step 7
Close the lid and cover the container properly with towels. It should be kept warm at around 95-105ºF. Leave the yogurt like this, unopened for around 8 to 10 hours.
Step 8
After waiting the suggested amount of time, the yogurt is ready and you can now eat it and store it in the fridge.
