What you’ll need
For 2 medium pizzas you’ll need:
- 3 medium tomatoes (25 oz. approximately)
- 3 or 4 tbsp of olive oil
- Oregano
- Salt
- Ground black pepper
- 1 or 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 sprig of fresh basil
Step 1
-
Chop the tomatoes into small pieces and put them in the blender or food processor to puree them. Put aside the mixture that you get.
Step 2
-
Chop a clove of garlic and basil leaves. If you’d like, you can use 2 garlic cloves and more basil leaves depending on what flavors you like best.
Step 3
-
Sauté the garlic in a skillet and add the tomato puree you prepared earlier. Cook over medium heat to prevent the tomato puree from simmering and splashing too much. Stir constantly so it doesn’t stick to the skillet.
Step 4
-
Add fresh basil, oregano, salt and pepper to taste, and let the sauce reduce. Continue stirring. The sauce will begin to take on a deeper red color. Taste to see if it needs any salt and pepper, and add them as needed.
Step 5
-
Remove the sauce from the pan and pour it into a container. Let it cool a bit and use it as a base for your pizza.
