Why It’s Hard to Make a Fluffy Omelet
Omelets are something that lots of people like for breakfast. It’s quick and easy to cook. But, in fact, even when cooking an omelet, there are many things you can do wrong and make an egg pancake instead of a tasty omelet.
5-Minute Crafts tried different ways of cooking an omelet, and now we’re ready to tell you about the mistakes that can prevent you from getting a delicious, fluffy omelet.
Why your omelet is flat
- The pan is too big for the ingredients you have. If you’re lucky, the omelet is not fluffy enough, if you’re not, you get an egg pancake.
- The pan was too hot before cooking. In this case, the egg will get fried very quickly and there will be a crust at the bottom. Because of this, you’ll have a dry omelet, so you should use medium heat.
- You missed the moment when you needed to remove the pan from the heat. The omelet will burn at the bottom and be flat.
- The eggs were whipped with a mixer and a foam was developed. The eggs and milk need to be mixed with an ordinary whisk. Don’t do it too hard. Just mix the whites and the yolk, add milk, and mix it again.
If you use a mixer, the omelet will be as thin as the photo above shows.
Other mistakes you can make when cooking an omelet
- You didn’t watch the omelet while cooking. When this meal is cooked, it’s better not to step away from the stove to remove the bubbles that appear on the surface. They will look like volcano craters, which is not very appetizing.
- You used oil. This ingredient makes the omelet taste foamy. But if you use butter, the taste is tender and really pleasant. You can use a mix: just add a drop of oil to the butter.
Why your omelet loses its volume when it’s put on the plate
- An omelet was cooked on the stove. If you want to have a really fluffy omelet, you need to cook it in the oven.
- The plate you put the omelet on was cold. It is better to use a warm plate.
