How to Get Rid of Chin Acne
Pimples on your chin usually occur when your hormonal balance changes and your skin cells start producing too much oil. This extra oil can trap dirt, debris, and bacteria in your skin and clog your pores, which typically leads to breakouts. 5-Minute Crafts is about to show you some ways to reduce the appearance of chin acne.
❗ Consult your dermatologist before trying any of the methods mentioned below.
1. Wash your face properly.
✅ Wash your face 2 times a day (when you wake up and before going to bed) and every time after you sweat.
⛔ Don’t cleanse your skin more often, as this can irritate it and make acne worse.
✅ Use your fingertips to gently massage the cleanser into your skin and then rinse it off with warm water.
✅ Choose a gentle cleanser, preferably the one that contains ingredients like salicylic or glycolic acid or probiotics.
⛔ Don’t use harsh cleansing agents or abrasive washcloths.
⛔ Never sleep with your makeup on.
2. Choose the right skin care routine.
✅ Moisturize your skin regularly to prevent it from drying out.
✅ Exfoliate your skin with a gentle exfoliant containing salicylic or lactic acid about 2-3 times a week.
⛔ Don’t scrub your chin because this can irritate acne.
✅ Wear an oil-free sunscreen every day.
⛔ Avoid skincare products that contain oils because they can clog your pores. Look for terms like “non-comedogenic” or “non-acnegenic” on the labels.
3. Make your own spot treatment.
✅ Make a mixture of 2% salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and 1% hydrocortisone cream by putting a drop of all 3 in the palm of your hand. Then apply it directly to the affected area to kill acne-causing bacteria, open pimples, remove oil, and quicken the healing process.
4. Apply ice.
✅ Apply ice wrapped in a clean cloth to the affected area for about 5 minutes, using very little pressure. This will help you to reduce redness and pain.
5. Take care of your hair.
✅ Keep your hair away from your chin and jawline.
✅ Wash your hair frequently to prevent oil on your scalp and hair from making its way onto your face and triggering breakouts.
6. Stop touching your face.
✅ Keep your hands away from your chin and jawline. The less you touch your face, the sooner it will heal.
⛔ Don’t pick or pop your pimples, as this can spread bacteria, slow down the healing process, and lead to scars.
7. Keep your sheets clean.
✅ Change your sheets every week and your pillowcases 2-3 times a week. This will prevent dead skin cells, bacteria, and dirt that have collected on these surfaces from clogging the pores on your face.
