How to Grow Your Brows

Fashion never stays in the same place and keeps showing us new trends. They relate not only to clothes and accessories but also makeup, hair, and the shape of our nails and brows. The latter gets a lot of attention nowadays because wide natural brows are extremely trendy.

5-Minute Crafts collected useful recommendations that will help you grow the brows of your dreams.

Let’s start with the fact that the length, width, and thickness of the eyebrows are naturally different for everyone. To find out your natural shape, look at old photographs. You need to find pics where you haven’t done any corrections to your brows yet.

If you decide to grow brows, it doesn’t mean you won’t be able to change them later. On the contrary, getting back to the natural shape will help you choose the most suitable shape for you personally. A specialist in brow architecture can help you do this.

Be patient

If you have firmly decided to grow your brows, be ready to wait — this process is not that quick as you might wish. At first, it might seem like it will take no more than 1 month because many people are used to tweezing unnecessary hairs weekly. However, in reality, it can take up to 4-6 months until your brows grow into a shape close to their natural one.

The main thing during this period is to be patient and not neglect your goal. The thing is, growing out your brows can look kind of messy at first.

Don’t touch your brows.

For the entire period that you grow your eyebrows, you will have to give up tweezers, scissors, wax, thread, and any other means that help you get rid of unwanted hairs.

Don’t get tempted to pluck out the extra hair, not even one. It’s better to go to a master on brow correction who will help you select a suitable shape for growing your brows and explain all the nuances.

Learn to disguise.

We have already mentioned that growing brows can look kind of messy. Oftentimes, they grow in patches that have some empty gaps between them. You’ll have to learn to disguise these. You can draw the missing hairs in with a special pencil or marker or fill the empty space with shadow. In order to get the hairs to go in the right direction, use styling agents like wax or gel.

Be careful when making up your brows — don’t press the pencil against your skin too hard and don’t use coarse or hard brushes. Your brow hairs might break and fall out if the treatment is too aggressive.

Correct your diet.

The food that we eat directly affects the way we look. Our body needs various vitamins and microelements for healthy hair. You need to include foods that are rich in biotin, iron, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins C, D, and E in your diet to speed up hair growth.

Foods rich in biotin include milk, eggs, beef liver, pork, salmon, mushrooms, sunflower seeds, walnuts, bananas, and sweet potatoes. Beef and chicken liver, boiled beef, chicken, turkey, salmon, snapper, tuna, mussels, oysters, beans, chickpeas, peas, tofu, dried apricots, and spinach are rich in iron. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in fish, eggs, milk, flaxseed, and mustard oil. In addition to oranges, vitamin C can be found in kiwis, strawberries, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, and potatoes. Vitamin D is found in fatty fish (salmon, rainbow trout, sardines, perch), dairy products, including cheese, beef liver, egg yolks, as well as cereals, soy milk, and orange juice. Almonds, pine nuts, sunflower seeds, avocados, peanut butter, fish, and red bell peppers are great sources of vitamin E.

Don’t just comb the hair on your head.

We are taught to comb hair from childhood. It stimulates the saturation of the hair follicles with oxygen and nutrients. Our brow hairs need this procedure too. Comb them every day. The main thing to remember is to not overdo it because the hairs can be quite brittle. Don’t press the brush too hard and move along the direction of the hair growth.

Scrub the skin in the brow zone.

Exfoliating products are essential in skincare to get rid of dead skin cells. But for some reason, many of us avoid the eyebrow area during these procedures. But we shouldn’t!

The skin in the eyebrow area also needs to be cleansed of the stratum corneum to make room for new cells. Experts recommend doing this procedure once a week.

Massage them.

We all know that massage improves blood circulation. That’s why you should make sure to massage your eyebrows for better hair growth. It should be done 2-3 times a week with circular movements along the direction of the hair growth.

It is recommended to massage brows at the moment of applying a serum or oil.

Choose an eyebrow growth product.

Hair growth is a natural process in our body. But since we have been plucking out brow hairs for a long time, their follicles got damaged and became weaker. Our goal is to wake them up and strengthen them.

In order to speed up the process of growing brow hairs, make sure to use caring and moisturizing products. Some people give preference to ready-made serums, others use natural products. Everyone chooses according to their tastes.

When buying an eyebrow growth product, pay attention to its composition. Experts recommend serums with collagen, amino acids, peptides, biotin, and keratin. Follow the instructions when using these products.

Natural oils for brow growth

  • Castor oil. When talking about hair growth oil, castor oil is the first thing that comes to mind. It will be good for the brows too. It is recommended to apply it with the tips of your fingers and rinse after 30 minutes.
  • Coconut oil can be used as a conditioner for brows. It will help make them thicker and healthier. It is recommended to apply it at night and wash it off with a cleanser in the morning.
  • Оlive oil contains vitamins A and E that are so necessary for beautiful brows. Apply a drop of oil to your fingertips and massage your eyebrows. Wash off after a couple of hours.
  • Almond oil will moisturize your brow hair and make it stronger. You can see visible results from using it after 6-8 weeks. It’s recommended to apply the oil with massaging movements and wash it off after a couple of hours.
  • Usma oil can also be a great assistant in this not-so-easy process of growing out brows. You can apply it with your fingers or a brush.

Please remember! Make sure you are not allergic to any of these products before you start using them.

Other remedies

  • Onion juice can help you grow brows. It contains a lot of sulfur, selenium, minerals, and B and C vitamins. Onion strengthens hair follicles and promotes rapid hair growth. It is recommended to apply the juice to the eyebrows with a cotton swab and keep it on for an hour. Keep in mind that this is not the most pleasant-smelling remedy. You can wash off the onion smell with diluted lemon juice.
  • Egg yolk contains a lot of biotin that helps eyebrow hairs grow better. Whipped into a homogeneous consistency, egg yolk should be applied to the eyebrows with a cotton swab or a brush and kept on the brows for 20 minutes. Afterward, it should be rinsed with warm water. It is recommended to do this procedure 2 times a week. However, note that the yolk can clog pores and cause breakouts. Therefore, apply it in small amounts and rinse thoroughly.
  • Мilk contains casein and whey protein, which stimulate hair growth. Eyebrows can be massaged daily with a cotton pad soaked in milk. It’s recommended to leave milk on the brows for 15 minutes, and then rinse with water.
  • Lemon is rich in vitamins B and C, as well as folic acid, which makes eyebrow hair grow faster. It is recommended to rub the eyebrows with a piece of lemon and wash off its residual juice with warm water after 20 minutes. After this procedure, make sure to not go out in the sun for 2 hours, otherwise, your eyebrows may lighten. Don’t use this method if you have sensitive skin or experience irritation from using the lemon.
  • Aloe vera contains aloenin, which promotes hair growth. This plant makes the hairs more elastic and prevents them from breaking. You can apply it on your eyebrows several times a day.
    1. Carefully break a piece of the stem.
    2. Remove the upper crust and rub the gel into your brows.
    3. Store the rest of the leaf in the fridge.

Please remember! Make sure you are not allergic to any of these products before you start using them.
