I. Ways to make rice water
1. Soaking
Soaking rice is the fastest and easiest process to make rice water.
Step 1: Get 1/2 cup (4 ounces or 100 grams) of uncooked rice.
Step 2: Put the rice in a colander and rinse it with water to remove dirt and dust.
Step 3: Put the washed rice in a bowl of your choice and pour 2-3 cups (16-24 ounces or 480-720 ml) of water in. Leave the rice to soak in water for 30 minutes.
Step 4: Strain the rice, but keep the water. Pour the water into a container. It’s ready to use. Don’t throw the rice away — you can still cook it up!
2. Fermented rice water
Another method to get useful elements and antioxidants from rice water is to ferment it.
Step 1: Rinse 1 cup (128 grams) of uncooked rice with water to remove dirt and dust.
Step 2: Put the washed rice in a bowl of your choice and pour 1 cup (8 ounces or 240 ml) water in. Mix together until the water becomes cloudy.
Step 3: Strain the rice, but keep the water.
Step 4: Pour the water into a container and cover it with a lid. Now it’s time to let the rice water ferment for 12-24 hours at a room temperature. This way you let vitamins and minerals come out. Do not let it ferment for more than 24 hours, otherwise the product will go bad.
Step 5: After the water is fermented, you can store it in a refrigerator until you are ready to use it.
3. Boiling
You can also make rice water just by using what’s left after boiling rice.
Step 1: Put in 1/2 cup (4 ounces or 100 grams) of rice. Pour 2 times more water typically used for cooking in a pot.
Step 2: Boil the rice in the water until cooked.
Step 3: Strain the rice, keeping the water. Pour the water into a container. It’s ready to use.
