How to Reduce Wrinkles Around Your Face, Neck, or Décolletage
Sagging skin, fine lines, and wrinkles around your neck, face, or décolletage can occur due to aging, genetics, sun exposure, and more. Although some of these factors can’t be avoided, you can still do plenty of things to minimize their appearance. For example, you can use creams, serums, laser treatment, or even plastic surgery. But there are also natural remedies with no risk. If you want to learn more about these handy tips, scroll through to find out more.

The causes of neck wrinkles
Aging and getting wrinkles on our bodies and faces along the way is a natural process. Neck wrinkles, or neck lines, are similar to those that can appear around the mouth, eyes, hands, or forehead. Certain factors cause them, like excessive exposure to the sun, ultraviolet rays, not wearing sunscreen, genetics, repeated motions, not moisturizing, and more.
As a rule of thumb, always remember that the skin around the neck and décolletage is thinner and less elastic — and it loses its elasticity through aging. Therefore, it requires more anti-aging treatment. Keep in mind that with the proper treatment and methods, it’s possible to reduce the appearance of fine lines in these areas.
1. Keep your screens at eye level.
Repeated motions or doing the same thing over and over again may cause wrinkles. If you constantly stare at your phone or screen, you may end up having horizontal neck wrinkles or lines over time, which may look like a choker. Because you’re doing the same thing repeatedly, they may turn into permanent lines over time.
Not only that, hunching over your phone or computer for many hours may also tilt your neck. Over time, you may develop a slumped back and forward neck and head too, which is called “text neck” or “tech neck.” Positioning your phone right in front of your face, close to your eye level, and looking straight ahead can help minimize neck lines.
2. Use vitamin C serum.
Vitamin C (when in its purest form) plays an essential role in collagen production or synthesis thanks to its antioxidants. Inactivating free radicals also helps heal the damage caused by UV rays, etc. It improves wrinkles in 12 weeks, so it’s better to use these serums for at least 3 months.

3. Wear sunscreen.
The neck is usually one of the most forgotten parts of our bodies, but it needs to be protected from sun exposure too. One of the fastest and easiest solutions to combat wrinkles is to wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Apply it daily to your face, neck, and chest area every 2 to 3 hours. It will help improve sagging skin and wrinkles, protect against UV damage, and decrease your risk of skin cancer.

4. Moisturize.
Hydrating your skin is always good for making wrinkles and fine lines less visible. Often, we may get in the habit of moisturizing our faces or hands, yet we may forget our neck area. There are some effective products on the market developed specifically for the neck area. If you have a chance, pick products that contain hyaluronic acid.
Retinoids, derived from vitamin A, are also suitable for cell regeneration and reducing fine lines. There are plenty of anti-aging retinoid creams on the market at your disposal that you can use according to your dermatologist’s advice.

’’Finally, I started taking care of the skin on my chest and neck area. Whatever I do to my face, I do to my chest/neck. It’s still discolored, but a bit brighter and does not have as many deep wrinkles. Photos are 1 year apart.’’ moonoom90 / Reddit
5. Experiment with neck patches.
Like face sheet masks and pads, similar products were designed for neck lines, most of which are made of silicon. They may help improve your skin’s appearance and texture. Take it from this Reddit user.

6. Get Botox injections.
Botox is one of the most popular, relatively painless, and minimally invasive cosmetic methods to improve your appearance. The procedure is generally quick and based on injecting certain injectables into the area of interest. Remember that it’s a temporary solution that requires regular injections for effective results.

7. Apply some skincare and chemical peels.
Chemical peels improve fine lines and wrinkles. And combining them with your skincare regimen gives you more youthful skin. Also, remember to pay attention to your products, as different chemicals may come with other effects for each skin type.
🌟A Reddit user’s before and after photos after just 2 peels are compelling. Note that aside from wrinkles, she had many other facial concerns. She happily stated, ’’My skin is clear for the first time in years! Deep TCA peel, Differin, and antibiotics. Also, I stopped breastfeeding.’’ *****inawesomeblonde / Reddit
In another post, she detailed her daily regimen for constant acne, never-ending blemishes on her chin, scarring, sun spots, fine lines/wrinkles, texture, and redness. She mentioned how her face sparkled together with her TCA peel, silk face mask, and occasional Botox.
8. Pick the right pillow.
Choosing the right pillow for sleep is crucial. Change it when it’s out of shape or if it’s causing you neck pain and headaches when you wake up. Sweat stains and foul odors may hint that your pillow is ready to be replaced. As a side note, if you don’t replace your pillow when it’s time, you may have allergies too, as pillows can house fungus and dust mites.
Sleeping posture is equally essential when fighting against neck lines, wrinkles, and sleep lines. As such, the pillow may cause and form vertical wrinkles when sleeping on your stomach. And when it’s repeated, they’ll be imprinted into your skin. If this is the case, practice sleeping on your back. When picking a good pillow, do the following:
- Be sure its height and firmness are just right. When sleeping in a side position, your neck must remain straight, although it depends on your sleeping style. When sleeping on your back, it must support your natural curve or neck. Firm pillows provide the best support, while memory foam pillows work best overall.
- If you experience neck pain, sleep apnea, or snoring issues, opt for a medium-height pillow, not a low one. This way, your neck won’t overextend much while sleeping.
