How to Make Bath Bombs
Bath bombs have taken a firm position in our lives as a nice and useful accessory for water-based activities at home, and they make for beautiful and desirable gifts. They’ve even become a profitable hobby for some people.
5-Minute Crafts is going to tell you how you can make bath bombs yourself.
Kitchen utensils
In order to make a bath bomb, you’ll need:
-
A coffee grinder
-
A bowl
-
A spoon
-
A mold for the bomb (like round forms for bombs or a form for soap and plasticine, a Kinder Surprise egg, or regular glass)
Ingredients
Basic ingredients:
-
Baking soda, 2 tbsp
-
Sea salt for baths or regular baking soda, 1 tbsp
-
Lemon acid, 1 tbsp
Additional ingredients that you can add if you’d like:
-
Food or cosmetic colorant, 20 drops
-
Aromatizer, 15 drops
-
Essential oil, 5 drops
-
Decorative glitter
-
Dried flowers for decoration
How to do it
-
Grind sea salt in a coffee grinder. You can skip this step if you’re using finely ground salt.
-
Place the soda and salt into a bowl and mash it with a spoon, rubbing thoroughly along the edges of the dish.
-
Add a colorant, fragrance, and/or essential oil.
4. Mix everything very thoroughly until it’s homogenous so that there are no lumps and the color is even. This is important because the badly mixed wet lumps will react with the lemon acid once you add it.
5. Add lemon acid and mix it well again.
6. Put the mass into the mold with layers, firmly pressing and incorporating each new layer, thoroughly.
7. Carefully take the bath bomb out of the mold, put it on a paper towel, and leave it to dry for 24 hours.
Tips
-
If you want to use the bomb right away, you can skip the drying stage. In this case, the reaction will be faster and more active.
-
You can place dried flowers, such as chamomile, or glitter on the bottom of the form in order to decorate the bomb.
-
To make the bomb in 2 colors, make 2 different mixtures and place them out in layers, alternating them the way you like it.
-
You can make a “surprise” from glitter by placing them in the middle of the bomb.
-
You can add essential and cosmetic oils to enhance the beneficial effects the bomb has on the skin.
-
Store the bath bombs in a dark, dry place — if they get wet, the reaction might start, and the bombs may end up losing their shape or breaking.
