How to Stay Awake When Tired
We often feel sleepy at work, while studying, or even during our day when we have to do some activities. In order to help, 5-Minute Crafts created a list of things you can do to stay awake during these tiring times.
1. Splash your face with cold water.
This will draw your circulation toward your head, renewing your energy for a little while.
2. Take a short nap.
Napping for a short period of time will help you feel more energized. A 20-minute nap is ideal. You should never take more than one nap.
3. Drink some caffeine.
Coffee is one of the most popular and effective ways to keep you awake. It steps up your metabolism and improves your focus and energy for a period of time.
4. Drink water.
Dehydration can actually make you feel more tired. Make sure you drink water throughout the day to keep yourself hydrated and energized by getting your blood flowing.
5. Turn on the lights.
Being exposed to bright light will reduce your sleepiness. Increasing the intensity of your lights will keep you more awake due to exposure.
6. Eat energizing and healthy snacks.
Foods like nuts, granola, yogurt, sliced veggies, hummus, and fresh fruit are really good for giving you more energy. These types of foods take less energy to digest and keep your blood sugar more balanced.
7. Start a conversation.
An interesting conversation can keep you more alert as you will be engaged in an activity with another person. The exchange of opinions will keep your mind awake.
Regular exercise will help you feel less sleepy. Cycling or fast walking are very good exercises in this case, as your body will be actively working.
