How to Make Your House Warmer

When your house gets too cold, there are some easy things you can do to make it cozier. And, with that in mind, 5-Minute Crafts has come up with a few tips on how you can make your home more comfortable.

1. Leave your drapes open.

The sun will come through your window and warm up your house. It’s not only natural, but also free of charge. However, as soon as the night comes, close the drapes to retain the heat from the day.

2. Use a smart thermostat.

You can set the thermostat to warmer temperatures for when it best suits you. For example, just before waking up or before you come back home after work. Your home will always be cozy.

3. Double glaze your windows.

Since heat escapes through glass, with double glazing (2 panes of glass) your windows will be effectively conserving energy and heat.

4. Use tin foil around your radiator.

Place tin foil behind your radiator. This way, heat won’t dissipate through your walls, and instead, it will be reflected back into the room. This is especially effective when your radiator is against a wall.

5. Reverse your fan’s rotation.

Cool air will be pushed up which then will be mixed with rising warm air. Afterward the mixed air will spread around your room, which will make it feel cozier.

6. Invest in a portable fireplace.

In addition to your radiator, portable fireplace is a great way to add some extra heat to your house. Plus, you can bring it outside to the yard if needed since they’re very versatile.
