How to Use a French Press
The French press is one of the most popular coffee brewing methods in the world, yet around 90% of us continue to use it wrong. 5-Minute Crafts wants to show you that it’s actually quite easy to make coffee this way as long as you follow all the steps correctly.
Step 1

Boil some water. Once it’s boiled, remove it from the heat and wait for it to cool to about 200ºF (about 30 seconds).
Step 2

Add a heaping tablespoon (7-8 grams) of ground coffee to the pot. Use this measurement for every 200 ml of water.
Step 3

Add the hot water and gently stir. As mentioned before, make sure you leave it for about 30 seconds so that it’s not boiling.
Step 4

Once the coffee and water are inside the pot, put the lid on, and wait for about 4 minutes. This step is important for keeping the heat inside as your coffee brews.
Step 5

Once the 4 minutes have passed, slowly press the plunger down. Make sure to press it all the way down so that your coffee doesn’t brew into over-extraction. Don’t do it too fast, otherwise, the water can overflow.

Enjoy your coffee! Also, it’s important to wash the pot with water and mild detergent after each use and dry it thoroughly.
