10 Hacks to Use Your Smartphone’s Camera to Gain Followers

Grabbing attention on social media can be easily done if the post features cool pictures. Some pictures out there look like they’ve been made with expensive equipment and cameras when in reality, all you need is a good imagination and some creativity, a bunch of items that we all have at home, and a person who will take the pictures for you. If you’re looking for some cool picture inspiration for your next Instagram or TikTok post, you’re in the right place.

In this article, 5-Minute Crafts gathered some of the best hacks that you can use to make your pictures look like they’ve been taken by a professional.

1. Sitting on the pool

  • How to do it: Lie down in the pool by positioning the legs at a 90-degree angle. With your hands, touch the edge of the pool. Ask someone to take a picture by holding the phone horizontally. Rotate the picture and crop it as much as needed.

2. A cool shadow pattern on the face

  • How to do it: Stand in an area where the sun shines the most. Take a sieve and use it to protect your head from the sun. The light rays will travel through the holes in the sieve and leave a nice pattern on your face.

3. Flower queen

  • How to do it: Do your makeup and place double-sided tape on your face and neck. Pick one that is easily removable and won’t leave glue marks on the skin. Remove the branches from the fake flowers of your choice and attach them to the tape. Make sure there’s no space left and that the tape is all covered.

4. Holding the painted lines on the road

  • How to do it: Take some toilet paper with you and go to the safest road nearby. Step on the beginning of the toilet paper roll, which should be placed on the painted white line on the road. Pull the rest of the toilet paper and keep the arm raised in an upright position. Using a graphic program, erase the painted line from the background.

5. Walking on water

  • How to do it: Go to the nearest river or lake and carry a small chair with you. Find a depth in the water that covers the chair but not your feet. Place it in the water and stand on top of it.

6. Mirror on the beach

  • How to do it: Go to a sand beach and take one rectangular mirror with you. Place the mirror in the sand. You can put rocks at the back to make sure that it won’t move. Find an angle where the camera won’t be seen in the mirror and take the picture. The result will look like a canvas at the beach!

7. Mirror effect

  • How to do it: Take 2 phones with you. Place one in a position to take a photo, and put the other one just below the camera turned on the front side — this phone will represent the mirror. Adjust it until you are happy with the picture you see on the first phone.

8. Limes

  • How to do it: Put a cardboard box on the ground and make an opening on the sides for your head. Place a towel in the box and lie down. Ask a friend for help to pour enough limes into the box so that the bottom is all covered.

9. Clear eye picture

  • How to do it: Dip your finger in a bowl of water and tap the back camera with a drop of water. Put your phone on the edge of a table so you can set a timer for 10 seconds. Мove your head closer to the phone and wait for the timer to run out.

10. Panorama effect

  • How to do it: Turn on the panorama mode on your smartphone. Rotate the phone horizontally. Lower your phone down and start bringing it up as the image appears on your phone. If you’d like а mirroring effect, keep moving the phone while twisting it to one side — but if you don’t, you can stop at any point.

Bonus: underwater pics

  • How to do it: Take an empty glass that’s wide enough to put your phone in. Put the phone in the glass so the camera is at the bottom. Dip the glass in the water and take some pictures.
