6 Ways to Use Fresh Lemons

Lemons are one of the most versatile fruits out there. Other than baking, there are various creative ways to use lemons that can help you out with regular tasks. 5-Minute Crafts will teach you all the tricks, from cleaning to keeping fruit fresh.

1. Microwave cleaning

What you’ll need:
*️⃣ Half a lemon
*️⃣ A microwavable bowl or cup
*️⃣ Water

1️⃣ Chop half a lemon into 3 or 4 pieces.
2️⃣ Fill just over half of a microwavable bowl or cup with water and place the lemon in there.
3️⃣ Microwave it on high and turn it off when you see steam on the window.
4️⃣ Let it sit for 5 minutes before removing and then wipe it clean.

The acidity in the steam loosens up any grease and dirt and leaves your microwave smelling lemony and fresh. 🍋

2. Restoring older white socks

What you’ll need:
*️⃣ Half a cup of lemon juice
*️⃣ Laundry detergent
*️⃣ A large pan
*️⃣ Water

1️⃣ Squeeze half a cup of juice out of the lemons.
2️⃣ In a large pan, place water, lemon juice, and some laundry detergent.
3️⃣ Bring it to a boil on the stove and let the socks simmer for 15-20 minutes.
4️⃣ Turn off the heat, let the water cool, remove the socks, and squeeze them.
5️⃣ Give them a regular wash in the washing machine.

This technique is recommended for cotton socks. For wool socks, use lukewarm water to give them a soak. 🍋

3. Cleaning fruits and vegetables

What you’ll need:
*️⃣ Half a cup of lemon juice
*️⃣ Half a cup of cold water
*️⃣ Half a cup of apple cider vinegar
*️⃣ A spray bottle

1️⃣ In a clean spray bottle, combine water, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar.
2️⃣ Shake the mix vigorously. Do this before every use.
3️⃣ Spray each piece of fruit or each vegetable abundantly and let it sit for 10 minutes.
4️⃣ Rinse them in cold water and prepare as usual, or store them in the fridge after drying.

This spray couples the properties of the vinegar with the acidic properties of the lemon to clean your produce before you cook or eat it. 🍋

4. Preventing cut fruit from browning

What you’ll need:
*️⃣ Lemon
*️⃣ Kitchen brush
*️⃣ Bowl

1️⃣ Cut the lemon in half.
2️⃣ Squeeze it into a bowl by hand or with a juicer.
3️⃣ Dip the bush into the lemon juice and coat the cut surface of the fruit with it.

Some fruits or vegetables that tend to brown: apples, bananas, avocados, pears, peaches, and potatoes🍋

5. DIY air freshener

What you’ll need:
*️⃣ 1 Lemon
*️⃣ 1 Pan
*️⃣ Water

1️⃣ Cut the lemon into several pieces.
2️⃣ Fill a pan with water and place the lemon inside.
3️⃣ Bring it to a boil.
4️⃣ Lower the heat to a simmer and don’t cover the pan, so the steam freshens up the house.

You can continue adding water as it evaporates and the scent spreads through your house. Make sure to keep an eye on it so it doesn’t burn.🍋

6. Keeping bugs away from outdoor paint

What you’ll need:
*️⃣ Lemon
*️⃣ Optional: Roller tray

1️⃣ Cut a lemon in half.
2️⃣ Squeeze a few lemons drops directly into the paint bucket.
*️⃣ Alternatively: Pour the paint into a roller tray and then squeeze some lemon juice into the paint.

Lemon can be used as an insect repellent; this trick helps prevent unwanted insects from falling into the paint or landing on a freshly painted wall.🍋
