Cooking Mistakes We All Make

Everyone makes mistakes in the kitchen but you can change this. You just need to know a few tricks.

At 5-Minute Crafts, we want to help you make your dishes as good as those from famous chefs. It’s quite easy, you just need to follow the recommendations from this article.

You start frying the garlic too soon.

Garlic burns easily, especially when chopped. Smaller bits cook quicker. Don’t add garlic to the pan from the start. An exception can only be made if you are cooking something with a lot of liquid.

You fry or boil mushrooms.

To prevent mushrooms from losing their nutritional properties, scientists recommend grilling them. With this method of cooking, nutritional elements remain at the same level, and the beneficial antioxidant activity increases.

Boiling or frying significantly reduces the nutritional value of mushrooms.

You don’t remove seeds from tomatoes.

Did you know that in restaurants they remove seeds from tomatoes and cucumbers before adding them to a salad? If this is not done, the extra moisture will make the lettuce wilt.

You stir cooked rice.

Don’t stir freshly cooked rice with a spoon, otherwise starch will start to come out of it, and the dish will become creamy.

Remember the cooking time. White rice takes about 15-25 minutes to cook, and brown rice takes about 45 minutes.

You cut fruits a long time before eating them.

The vitamins found in fruits, like vitamin C and many B complex vitamins, get destroyed by heat and light. Avoid leaving sliced fruit for a long time if you want them to be as healthy as possible.

You overcrowd your pan.

When the pan is overcrowded, the temperature in it drops, which must be taken into account when cooking complex dishes. Don’t put vegetables, starches, and meat in a pan at the same time. Fry the meat pieces first, until crispy, then add the other ingredients. Otherwise, the meat will become dry and tough.

You cover layers of a sponge cake with sour cream.

The problem is that sour cream can be too runny. It’s very easy to make a mistake with it. If you put too much cream, the cake layers will “sprawl,” and if you put too little, the dough will absorb all the cream. It’s better to use sour cream in a Russian honey cake. And for a sponge cake, choose custard or butter cream.

You add raw onions to your salad without properly preparing them first.

Experts recommend that you prepare onions first before adding them to salads. Either soak them in ice water for 10 minutes, or lightly salt them and let them sit for 10 minutes.
