How to Clean Your Smartphone Correctly
The screens of our phones are probably one of the thing we most touch every day, so it’s important to keep them as clean as possible. 5-Minute Crafts brings you an easy guide and some tips to disinfect your phone safely and without damaging it.
Step 1
Start by unplugging your phone. Turn it off and remove the case.
Step 2
Take a soft cloth. Do not use tissue or paper towels, as they may scratch the screen. Use this cloth to remove debris and fingerprints.
Step 3
Spray a lint-free microfiber cloth with a small amount of a solution that contains 70% ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Wipe down the sides and back. Be careful not to get any fluids into the ports.
Alternatively, you can use mild soap and lukewarm water, but they’re not as effective as the ethanol or isopropyl alcohol solutions.
Step 4
You may also disinfect your phone with 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes or Clorox disinfectant wipes, if you can find them in your local store.
Use a phone case so viruses can’t live as long on your phone. Make sure it’s a silicone or leather case, and use a screen protector, which will guard the screen from acidic sprays and wipes.
Never clean your phone with the following products or similar solutions:
- Household cleaners such as bleach, antibacterial spray etc.
- Glass cleaner
- Hand sanitizer
- Antibacterial handwash
- Shampoo, face scrub, etc.
- Makeup remover
- Rubbing alcohol
- Pure isopropyl alcohol
- Compressed air
- Vinegar
