How to Keep Your Feet Warm: 5 Ways

As the temperature drops, keeping your feet warm can seem like an impossible task. If you’ve tried all the common solutions, like wearing thicker socks or hiding under blankets, don’t worry, 5-Minute Crafts has gathered some easy tips and tricks to warm up those stubborn feet in no time.

1. Put your feet up.

The floor is usually the coldest part of a room. To avoid making your feet even colder, try keeping them up when you’re sitting down, like resting them on a stool, for example.

2. Wrap your feet.

Wrapping up your feet in a material like aluminum foil or plastic wrap can be an effective way to quickly warm up your cold feet. Doing this stops the warmth of your body from getting out, keeping you warm for longer. Simply put your socks on, tear a piece of the foil or plastic wrap and wrap it around your foot.

3. Put a hat on.

This may seem counter-intuitive, but putting on a hat may actually help warm up your feet and overall body. When your head is uncovered, it loses heat more quickly, meaning your body will get colder faster. Put on a hat to avoid that and keep the heat in your body.

4. Sprinkle pepper powder in your socks.

Pepper contains an ingredient called capsaicin. When this compound comes in contact with the skin, it causes the blood vessels to dilate, providing warmth. If you’ve tried every other solution to no avail, this hack might be worth a try — just sprinkle a bit of pepper powder into your socks before putting them on, but be careful not to use too much as only a tiny amount is necessary to warm your feet up.

Be extra careful while using this method — don’t use too much pepper and avoid it if you’re allergic to capsaicin. If you feel too much burning, remove the socks.

5. Avoid cotton.

Opt for woolen socks instead of cotton. Sweat comes out of your feet too, and cotton material gets wet very quickly, making your feet colder by losing warmth. Wool socks provide much better insulation compared to cotton socks when it comes to keeping your feet warm and comfortable.
