How to Tie a Cherry Stem Using Only Your Tongue
You have probably seen it in movies or heard about it — tying a knot with a cherry stem can be a fun trick that you can use at your next party. Although it can seem a bit complicated, it is quite easy to do in a few simple steps.

1. Prepare the stems.
Get multiple cherry stems so you can practice in case some fall apart. For this, it’s best to use Maraschino cherry stems rather than fresh ones, because they are softer and it’s easier to bend them.
2. Make the stem softer.
Chew the stem gently and soften it with the saliva. Try to bend it for a few seconds because it will make the stem easier to manipulate.
3. Shape it into a “U”.
Use the tip of your tongue to press the middle of the stem. Both ends of the stem should move upward, making the shape of the letter “U”.
4. Make the “X” shape.
Push the stem against the back of your front teeth and move one end over the other one. The stem should have an “X” shape now.
5. Put together a loop.
Make sure one end of the X is fixed in place with your teeth. Now move the loop up to the other end of the stem.
6. Push the stem through the loop.
Use the bottom edge of your teeth to move the end of the stem through the loop. Remember, the other part of the stem is still stabilized with your teeth, like in the previous step.
7. Release the end of the stem that was fixed with your teeth.
Make sure that one end of the stem goes through the loop. Now, you can let go of the opposite end of it.
8. Secure the loop with your tongue and teeth.
Place the loop against the back of your teeth. The end that was pulled through the loop should stick out.
9. Make a knot.
Keep pushing the end of the stem through the loop until the knot is formed. If you can’t make a perfect knot, you can use this trick — just hold one end of the stem with your teeth and stretch the other end with your fingers while removing it from your mouth.
