What Eye Shapes There Are

Eyes are something that we all tend to notice first on others. We can see that they differ from person to person, both in color and shape. For example, when you apply makeup, the shape of the eye is a big deal. But don’t worry — it’s easy to determine your eye shape on your own. 5-Minute Crafts will help you to figure it out.

1. Almond eyes

This shape of the eye is the most common eye shape. You have this type of eye if:

  • Your eyes look like almonds.
  • Your eyes have a crease that goes all the way across the upper eyelids.
  • The ends of your eyes narrow down at the tear duct and the outer point.
  • The iris of your eye touches the eyelid on both the bottom and the top.

2. Round eyes

The shape of this type of eye is round, like a button. Your eyes look larger and more eye-catching. You have this type of eye if:

  • The center of your eye is round and large, with natural narrowing near the outer and inner corners.
  • You can see whites on the top or bottom of the irises.
  • The corners of your eyes don’t taper or pull inward or outward.

3. Monolid eyes

Sometimes this type of eye shape is referred to as Asian, but that’s incorrect. Not all Asian people have these types of eyes, and the anatomy of this feature also has lots of variations. You have this type of eye if:

  • You don’t have much of or any crease.
  • Your eyes look flat.

4. Hooded eyes

Hooded eyes can happen as we get older, but some people are born with that kind of shape. You have this type of eye if:

  • You have an extra layer of skin that covers the crease.
  • When your eyes are open, the crease is not visible.

5. Downturned eyes

This type of eye is the opposite of upturned. You have this type of eye if:

  • When imagining placing a straight line across the center of your eyes, the outer corners of the eyes are lower than the inner corners.
  • Your eyes look like they have a slight drop toward the cheekbones.

6. Upturned eyes

Another name for this type of eye is cat eyes. They look attractive and feminine. You have this type of eye if:

  • When imagining placing a straight line across the center of your eyes, the outer corners of the eyes are above the inner corners.
  • Your bottom lashes turn upward and meet the top lashes at the outer corner of the eye.
