10+ Stars Who Went to Work and Found a Soulmate
Love can be hiding around any corner and it has a way of appearing when we aren’t really looking for it. Imagine going to work and coming back home with someone you work with suddenly pulling on your heartstrings... That’s what happened to these celebrity couples.
5-Minute Crafts has put together the stories of these star lovebirds to prove love can truly be right around the corner.
1. Tom Holland & Zendaya
This couple met on the set for a superhero movie, but Zendaya’s and Tom’s story isn’t as straightforward as their onscreen characters. The couple met in 2016 to begin filming what would be the first movie in the 3rd Spider-Man franchise and even though their on-screen chemistry was apparent, it took them some time to begin dating.
Tom confirmed that they were dating in an Instagram post in September 2021 where he refers to Zendaya as “My MJ.”
2. Julia Roberts & Daniel Moder
It was on the set of the 2001 movie The Mexican that Julia Roberts got to meet Daniel Moder, a cameraman in the movie. They married that next year, in 2002, proving you don’t always need to be a fellow actor to get friendly on the job.
Roberts has said wonderful things about her husband, saying that she “was born to love and to be the wife of this man” and making it clear why she does love him so much. “He is a man among men, unselfish and all-encompassing.” “He stands by” his choices and “will never blame it on somebody else,” the actress highlights how she’s “never seen anybody else do that.”
3. Megan Fox & Machine Gun Kelly
This often viral pair met on set while filming Midnight in the Switchgrass and have been dating since May 2020.
Fox said in an interview that, “It was obvious from second one what it was going to be” but that they didn’t start dating right away, with Megan describing in that same interview how they talked for hours on the phone and MGK mentioning how hesitant they were to even kiss. “She wouldn’t kiss me. We just put our lips right in front of each other and breathed each other’s breath and then she just left.”
4. Natalie Portman & Benjamin Millepied
Natalie Portman met her now soulmate during the filming of Black Swan in 2009. Benjamin and the Oscar Award Winning actress then married in 2012 and are still going strong, raising 2 kids together. We’re sure this movie means a lot to Portman, winning her both an Oscar and a partner for life.
5. Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson
The star couple met on the set of the TV show Bosom Buddies and got married a few years later, in 1988, making it to 34 years of marriage in 2022. They’ve since had 2 sons, Chester and Truman, and have apparently kept a happy and strong marriage that can serve as an inspiration to us all.
6. Ryan Gosling & Eva Mendes
Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes both starred in the 2012 movie The Place Beyond the Pines as Luke and Romina. They started dating in 2011 during the filming of the movie and their now 10+ year-long relationship has gifted them with 2 daughters, one born in 2014, the other born in 2016.
Even though Eva said in an interview that before she “fell in love with Ryan” she “never wanted babies,” it all seems to have worked out and the pair seems to have truly fallen for one another.
7. Hugh Jackman & Deborra-Lee Furness
Hugh Jackman and Deborra tied the knot in April 1996 after meeting on the set of Correlli, an Australian mini-series from 1995. Jackman described his wife’s personality in detail to a jeweler, effectively designing the perfect ring on which he choose to inscribe a sentence in Sanskrit — which roughly translates as “we dedicate our union to a greater source.”
They’ve since adopted 2 children and are still going strong.
8. Alyson Hannigan & Alexis Denisof
Alyson is probably best known for her roles in How I Met Your Mother and Buffy the Vampire Slayer and it was during the filming of the latter that she met her husband Alexis Denisof.
Alyson was the one who pursued Alexis, who didn’t want a relationship with someone he was working with, but with time every piece fell into place and the couple has now been together for a long time, having gotten married in 2003 and giving birth to 2 daughters.
9. Samira Wiley & Lauren Morelli
Morelli has said that she realized she was LGBTQ+ in 2012, on one of her first days on the set of Orange is The New Black where she was a writer. It was also on set that she met her wife, having said that she “went through it all.” “I fell in love with a woman, and I watched my life play out on screen.”
That person was Samira Wiley, who played Poussey Washington on the TV show. The couple got married in 2017 and gave birth to their daughter in 2021.
10. Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani
Gwen Stefani, the No Doubt vocalist turned pop star, co-starred with Blake Shelton on The Voice for the first time in season 7, with both being coaches in the competition now. After having announced their relationship in 2015 and having written and performed together on several songs, they got married in 2021. Shelton has said that Gwen “saved” his life and that no one else could understand his high-profile divorce like her, who had gone through something similar.
11. Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds
The pair met on set in 2010, during the filming of Green Lantern where they co-starred. After this, they started dating in October 2011.
According to Lively, this bond came from a deep friendship, “I’d never known anything like the friendship that I had with him. I could like him as much as I loved him.” The couple married in 2012 and have been together since, giving birth to 3 daughters.
Bonus
It isn’t always a fairytale, here are some celebrities who also met at work, but have since broken up.
- Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner:
Swift met Lautner in 2009 while filming her first movie Valentine’s Day, and while the pair weren’t made for each other, with the relationship sadly ending in the same year, we all have a song to remember it by — Lautner has confirmed that Taylor Swift wrote Back to December about him, where she sings:
“Maybe this is wishful thinkin’, Probably mindless dreamin’, But if we loved again, I swear I’d love you right...” - Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson:
This pair co-starred in the famous Twilight series of movies and dated for 4 years. They will always be immortalized in the movies and there seems to be no bad blood between them — when she was questioned about his recent role in The Batman the actress claimed to be “very happy for him” saying that he " is the only guy that could play that part." - Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield:
Stone and Garfield co-starred in the second series of Spider-Man movies and dated for some time. Apparently, not all Spider-Man fairytales work out and they’ve since broken up, but Andrew has said some wonderful things about her and we can always look back on his almost poetic remarks and fill our hearts with love:
“It was like I woke up when she came in” and “it was like diving into white-water rapids and having no desire to hang on to the side.”
