It’s always been an unwritten rule that a modeling career ends around the age of 30, and models who reach that age are often deemed too old for the industry. However, we have seen that the times are changing, and ladies who rule the runway are proving that age is just a number.
Here is a list of models who’ve remained young at heart and still have successful modeling careers as the years go by.
1. Carmen Dell’Orefice (91 years old)
Carmen started her modeling career when she was 15 years old as she signed a contract with Vogue. She is still active on the runway, at the age of 91.
2. Maye Musk (74 years old)
In a span of 50 years, Maye has appeared on the covers of Time magazine, Women’s Day, Vogue, Sports Illustrated, and many others. She is also the author of a book and has a master’s degree in nutritional science.
3. Beverly Johnson (70 years old)
Beverly is the first African-American woman to be featured on the cover of Vogue magazine in 1974, and that’s when her career skyrocketed. She is also an actress and a businesswoman.
4. Yazemeenah Rossi (66 years old)
Yazemeenah began her modeling career accidentally, in a way. She was 28 at the time and was filling in for a model who was sick and couldn’t attend a show. Since then, Rossi has been working as an actress too and has appeared in many magazines and commercials.
5. Eveline Hall (76 years old)
The stage was a second home to Eveline from a young age. She danced with many different ballet dancers when she was a teenager and would go on to also act in various plays. Hall started modeling at the age of 60 and has had sensational success on the catwalk ever since.
6. Iman Abdulmajid (67 years old)
Iman had her first modeling job in 1976 when working for Vogue. Since then, she’s established her title as a supermodel and worked with many famous brands like Gianni Versace, Thierry Mugler, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, and Yves Saint Laurent.
7. Christie Brinkley (68 years old)
Brinkley tried herself in various professions like acting, photography, writing, and designing but is mainly known as a model. Her modeling career progressed during the late ’70s and early ’80s when she appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine.
8. Linda Rodin (74 years old)
With her distinguishable personalized style, wearing oversized glasses, bright lipstick, and not dyeing her gray hair, Linda has gained a lot of success even though she started modeling in her ’60s. She also has experience in the industry since she has worked as a stylist for Victoria’s Secret, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vogue.
9. Lauren Hutton (78 years old)
Hutton was initially rejected as a model in her youth because of the gap in her teeth but managed to sign a contract with Revlon back in 1973. She’s also continued to work on the catwalk into her ’70s.
10. Rosa Saito (71 years old)
Rosa Saito discovered her passion for modeling when she was 68 and had no previous experience in that field. However, she stated that she found herself in it and she wanted to give her best. “If I don’t try, I’ll never know,” Rosa added in one of her interviews.
11. Daphne Selfe (94 years old)
Daphne is a veteran when it comes to working on the runway. The 94-year-old model is still in high spirits and doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon. Daphne is also the author of the book The Way We Wore, an autobiography in which she shared her memories as one of the oldest supermodels.
12. Helen Vanwinkle Honey (94 years old)
Although Helen isn’t officially a model, she definitely has a knack for posing in front of the camera. The 94-year-old doesn’t shy away from experimenting with bright colors in her make-up and some wild combos from her wardrobe. This helped her to gain publicity on social media and many followers after she posted a picture of herself on Twitter wearing her great-granddaughter’s clothes. The famous singer, Rihanna, started following her when she saw the picture, and after a while, her fan base reached 3.3 million followers on Instagram.
