15+ Things Gen-Z Won’t Ever Experience in Their Lifetime
As the world evolves, so do we, and as new generations come along we witness how they might not ever imagine a life without the possibility of watching a TV show whenever they want, not having all the information in the world in their pocket at all times, or just playing around outside as a kid without their parents knowing where they are at all times.
5-Minute Crafts has compiled some lost habits, situations, and even sentences that won’t ever be said again so you can really see how far we’ve come.
Everyday situations we won’t experience again
- The need for you and your friends to be punctual and reliable. Just to meet up at some place at a specific time was painful. If one of you missed a bus/train then there was no way of letting the others know. It was always such a relief to see your friends waiting at an agreed meeting point at the agreed time. styzr / Reddit
- I cannot even provide a good guess as to the number of hours I spent at libraries during my youth. Everything for school required me to go to a library and manually search for information.
Typing papers on an actual typewriter. No autocorrect. No spellchecks. No cut/paste features. If I made an error, it meant retyping the entire page or trying to use the corrective ribbon, which never really worked well. lori1119 / Reddit - Parents not knowing where their kids are and trusting them not to get into trouble. malamalinka / Reddit
- My kids watched Stranger Things with me and they thought it was unrealistic how the kids would just go ride their bikes wherever late at night. I told them we used to do that all the time. One time I broke my collar bone in a pick-up football game and had to ride my bike home. I was like 10 miles away. (That sucked.) dog_superiority / Reddit
- Removing the faceplate of your car stereo so it wouldn’t get stolen. ebjazzz / Reddit

- Listening to the radio with a blank tape, waiting for your favorite song to come on so you can hit record the second you hear the first note, then the DJ starts talking over it and ruins the whole thing. lizzieb77 / Reddit
- Back in the day, if you had a friend who moved away, the only way to stay in touch was with letters and having a human deliver these letters to the other person’s home thousands of miles away. This process could take weeks. And if you really cared about that person, you would carefully choose your materials, practice your handwriting, decorate the envelope, and agonize over every word. Then there was the delicious anticipation after putting the letter into the mail. What would they think when they read it? How will they respond? And then the heart-stopping moment when you open up the mailbox and there, in the well-known handwriting, is a letter addressed to you...taking the letter, running upstairs to your bedroom, locking the door, and only then opening up the letter to read it carefully and savor every word... - Having a limited amount of music with you when traveling. Even with MP3 players, if you didn’t have the song on it, you weren’t going to listen to it until you could connect to a computer. It’s wild having gone from CDs to MP3 players to streaming. Zune was best. g**batman75-6 / Reddit
- Missing an episode of a show meant MISSING IT FOREVER. There’s still an episode of Battlestar Galactica I never saw. I could go back and watch it now but 10-year-old me hurt like a gunshot wound for a long time after missing that thing. The _Patriot / Reddit
