A Guide to Types of Coffee

Coffee is made from roasted coffee beans. This is one of the most popular drinks in the world, and it can be served in many different ways.

Latte macchiato

While a regular latte consists of espresso with whipped milk on top, a latte macchiato is a reverse latte: first, you add foamed hot milk and then the espresso.

Raf

This tender coffee is made this way: vanilla sugar syrup is poured on the bottom, espresso is added, and then warm cream.

Frappuccino

A frappuccino is cold coffee with ice and additives. It’s brewed coffee, ice, milk, and whipped cream. Different syrups may also be added.

Galao

Galao is a Portuguese drink very similar to a latte. It’s a mix of espresso (1/4) and foamed milk (3/4). Usually, it’s served in a tall glass.

Affogato

Affogato is from Italy. It’s a scoop of ice cream served with a portion of espresso.

Marocchino

The marocchino was created in an Italian town called Alessandria. It’s a portion of espresso, cocoa (powder or hot cocoa), and milk foam.

Black eye

This drink contains a big dose of caffeine. A black eye is a portion of drip coffee with 2 portions of espresso.

Bombon

Coffee bombon is a drink made from espresso mixed with condensed milk at a ratio of 1:1.

If you don’t like it when milk makes coffee cold, the café au lait is for you. It’s regular coffee with just a drop of hot milk.

Vienna coffee

To make a Vienna coffee, pour espresso into a cup and put a layer of fresh cream on top. You can add a pinch of cocoa powder if you want.
