12 Hidden Details in Cartoons You Probably Missed the First Time Around

Many of us really enjoy watching cartoons. The creators of these cartoons are probably aware of this, so for the most dedicated fans, they leave Easter eggs in their work — secrets that aren’t so easy to find. An Easter egg can be a character from another cartoon, a word quickly flashing into frame, or a sneaky reference to another production.

5-Minute Crafts has put together some of the most interesting ones to share with you. We bet you didn’t know about most of them.

1. Tangled (2010)

In one of the film’s scenes, Mother Gothel says to Rapunzel, “I love you very much, dear.” After this, instead of kissing the girl’s forehead, Mother Gothel kisses her hair. It was her hair that was the source of her eternal youth.

2. Hercules (1997)

In Hercules, the goddesses of fate say to Hades, “In 18 years, precisely, the planets will align ever so nicely,” but only 6 planets are shown. This is because the ancient Greeks only knew about 5 planets (plus Earth) that they could see with the naked eye: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.

3. The Lego Movie (2014)

Fingerprints can be seen on The Lego Movie figures.

4. Lilo & Stitch (2002)

In Lilo & Stitch, the Stitch adoption document that Nani signs is actually a thank you letter to the production and creative team.

5. Zootopia (2016)

In the last part of the film, Officer Hopps and Nick discover that Duke Weaselton is selling bootleg films. After all, he says, “I got movies that aren’t even out yet.” Then he shows these films and you can see parodies of Moana and even Frozen 2, which came out 3 years later.

6. Incredibles 2 (2018)

In the Incredibles 2 scene where Helen is separated from her family, an unusual painting can be seen above the bed in her hotel room. 4 geometric figures are drawn on the canvas together and one in the distance. This is a very literal symbol of Elastica being away from her family.

7. Frozen (2013)

If you add up the names of the Frozen characters, Hans, Kristoff, Anna, and Sven, you can get the name of the writer, Hans Christian Andersen. His fairy tale, The Snow Queen, formed the basis of the cartoon.

8. Wreck-It Ralph (2012)

When the Candy King wants to crack the code for Sugar Rush, he pulls out a napkin with strange arrows and letters. In real life, this combination of buttons (Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A) on the gamepad activated various useful things in Nintendo games.

9. Pinocchio (1940)

At the beginning of the cartoon, on the table next to the book of the same name, you can see 2 other books that Disney will also soon film: Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan.

10. Enchanted (2007)

In one of the animated cut scenes of this film, a troll can be seen hunting Giselle. If you take a closer look at his costume, you can see some “trophies” on his loin cloth in the form of Snow White and Cinderella dresses.

11. Wall-E (2008)

At the very end of the cartoon, after the credits, you can see the Pixar logo and WALL-E himself, who changes the light bulb of Luxo Jr. to an environmentally friendly one after it has gone out.

12. Monsters University (2013)

In the cartoon, the source of electricity was screams, which were stored in a gaseous state in special tanks. Because the energy was in the form of a gas, there were valves instead of light switches and pipes instead of wires.
