12 Sloppy Movie Bloopers Directors Wished You’d Never Notice
Sometimes movies produced by the great masters may contain unexpected but obvious mistakes that fall just below our radar. And while watching, we get so drawn into them and don’t readily seem to spot all the tiny little mistakes. 5-Minute Crafts listed the classic movie mistakes that slipped through editing, whether on purpose or not, which made the movies even more enjoyable regardless of how over the top they seemed.
1. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
During the interrupting MJ and Peter scene, about 3 minutes in, MJ (Zendaya) is empty-handed when talking to May. Suddenly, in the next shot, she’s holding a white shirt in her hand.
2. House of Gucci (2021)
Everything is fantastic until Patrizia (Lady Gaga) takes a lipstick and writes her phone number on Maurizio’s (Adam Driver) windshield. But check the 5s carefully and see if they are the same — they change between shots.
3. Cruella (2021)
There is a factual error in a scene where Cruella drives her car in England. We all know that the driver’s seat in England is on the right side, not the left. Yet, Cruella is sitting on the left side.
4. Space Sweepers (2021)
After the ship goes into a nanobot field, Kot-nim unconsciously lies on the floor. Tae-ho finds and places a First Aid box near Kot-nim. As you may notice, around 1 hour and 20 minutes in, the First Aid box moves closer to Kot-nim.
5. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
If you have watched this fantastic movie, but haven’t noticed the difference in the sleeping positions of Frodo and Sam, then check it out again. In one scene, they’re sleeping side by side. Next, they’re perpendicular to each other — this is when Gollum appears and talks to us.
6. Pearl Harbor (2001)
If there’s one scene where you can easily see a camera operator, it’s in the left frame after the attack begins on the boat. Watch the scene closely when Dorie Miller is in the ship’s hall after the attack — a crew member is holding a camera.
7. Spirited Away (2001)
One of Hayao Miyazaki’s Academy Award-winning masterpieces, Spirited Away, has some impossible scenes that go undetected. Remember, Chihiro falls off the side of a bathtub onto the floor after pulling the rope. Some brooms vanish after the No-face appears and hands the herbal soak tokens to Chihiro.
8. Gladiator (2000)
Gladiator’s is set during the Roman Empire, around 180 CE, which doesn’t even come close to the period when the jeans were created or invented. If you watch closely, in the scene where Maximus is feeding a horse, you’ll see a crew member in a pair of blue jeans just between him and the horse.
9. The Matrix (1999)
Sometimes, reflections give the best clue as to what’s going on during filming. If you want to learn more about it, watch the scene around 67 minutes in. When Neo opens the door to enter the Oracle’s house, a big camera lens is reflected on the doorknob.
10. Titanic (1997)
Remember the scene Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) is handcuffed, wearing suspenders over his shirt, and Rose (Kate Winslet) is trying to help him. There is an inter-shot where he turns his head away and closes his eyes while Rose raises the ax to break the cuffs off — notice his suspenders aren’t the same in this scene.
11. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
When Indy and Henry escape Castle Brunwald, Indiana jumps into a boat and pulls the motor starter cord. Then, they decide to not go by boat and he jumps out. Notice the crew member hiding under the tarp. The arm is covered in black and can be seen between Indy’s legs.
12. The Godfather (1972)
Remember the scene in the beginning, when the Godfather, Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando), is petting a cute kitten on his lap. Believe it or not — the script didn’t include the cat or that scene. The cat ended up on the set unexpectedly. Ultimately, it looked pretty good, and they decided to keep it.
