8 Amazing backyard decoration ideas

1. DIY swing

Things you’ll need:

  • An old tire
  • Spray paint
  • A step drill
  • A rope
  • A round cushion

How to do it:

  • Spray paint the tire with your preferred color
  • Using the drill, make four holes on one side of the tire. Two on the top and two on the bottom
  • Insert the rope through the holes
  • Hang the tire from a strong tree branch
  • Place the cushion on the tire

2. Relaxing fishtank

Things you’ll need:

  • An old bathtub
  • A cleaning cloth
  • Spray paint
  • Wooden boards wider than the tub
  • A jigsaw
  • A drill and screws
  • Wood paint and a brush
  • Fishtank stones and artificial plants

How to do it:

  • Prepare the bathtub, cleaning it well with the cloth
  • Paint the inside of the tub with the spray paint
  • Place the boards on the tub, covering it all horizontally
  • Cut off the center of the boards to the size of the bathtub outline
  • Adjust the boards to the tub, with screws
  • Paint the boards
  • Put the stones and fake plants in the tub
  • Fill it with water and put the fish inside

3. Grass seats

Things you’ll need:

  • A tire
  • A glue gun
  • A rope
  • Coal
  • Sawdust
  • Friable soil
  • Grass seeds

How to do it:

  • Glue the rope to the tire, wrapping it completely
  • Place the tire at the place you want to have the seats
  • Fill the tire with coal, then sawdust and, finally, soil
  • Plant the seeds in the tire and water
  • Wait for the grass to grow and use it as a seat

4. A night under the stars

Things you’ll need:

  • An inflatable pool
  • Blankets and pillows
  • A decorating string of lights

How to do it:

  • Inflate the pool and place it in your backyard
  • Put some blankets and pillows inside the pool
  • Decorate around it with the hanging lights

5. Fence decoration

Things you’ll need:

  • A rope
  • A furniture stapler

How to do it:

  • Attach the rope to the fence, using the stapler
  • Make a zigzag with the rope, securing it with staples up and down

6. Repurposed pallets for a pool

Things you’ll need:

  • Wooden pallets
  • A wooden board panel
  • A Jigsaw
  • A drill, screws and flat joining plates
  • Pool tarpaulin
  • A furniture stapler

How to do it:

  • Set the pallets vertically, one besides the other, making a circle
  • Joint them using screws and joining plates
  • Put the tarpaulin inside the structure and secure it around, using the stapler

Build steps to reach the pool:

  • Place three pallets vertically, next to the pool, and parallel one to each other
  • Put the board panel on the pallets and adjust it with screws
  • Cut off a rectangle, leaving a space in between two of the pallets
  • Place boards in between those two pallets, from bottom to top, making steps
  • Adjust them with screws

7. Natural looking icebox

Things you’ll need:

  • Pallets
  • A jigsaw
  • A drill and screws
  • A cooler bag
  • Grain sack fabric
  • A furniture stapler

How to do it:

  • Cut pieces of pallet to make a crate that fits your cooler bag
  • Put the wooden pieces together with screws
  • Warp the crate with the fabric and adjust it, using the stapler
  • Put the cooler bag inside
  • Fill it with ice and your preferred drinks

8. Aim game

Things you’ll need:

  • A hula-hoop
  • Duct tape

How to do it:

  • Stick pieces of tape to the hoop, from one end to the other, forming a star
  • Hang the hoop to a tree branch, with the sticky side facing out
