An Artificial Intelligence Artist Shows How Some Icons Would Look Today

Artificial intelligence has become a buzzword in recent years. It’s now possible to re-create fascinating, realistic portraits of anyone. The Istanbul-based artist, Alper Yeşiltaş, used his utmost creativity together with his passion for photography and showed us how our beloved icons would look today. 1. Michael Jackson

As he began to dramatically change his appearance in the mid-1980s, Michael Jackson became a global cultural figure throughout his 4-decade-long career. The King of Pop is still the most awarded individual music artist in history, having sold over 400 million records worldwide. The ’’Thriller’’ singer died in 2009 when he was only 50.

2. Amy Winehouse

One of the world’s most unique voices—deep, expressive, contralto vocals, the fantastic singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse touched many people with her strong and characteristic voice. The 5-time Grammy-winning artist died at the age of only 27. She left incredible songs as her legacy — Rehab, You Know I’m No Good, and Back to Black, to name a few.

3. Heath Ledger

Actor and music video director Heath Ledger’s career was full of successful films, earning him many prestigious awards and nominations: Academy Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTA awards, and more. Most of us surely remember him as the Joker in The Dark Knight. Unfortunately, he died in 2008 at the age of only 28.

4. The Princess of Wales—Diana

Princess of Wales, Diana Spencer, is still remembered as the “People’s Princess” as she had a throne in people’s hearts with her nobility and grace. She and Prince Charles, now king, celebrated the wedding of the century, which was televised and watched by millions of people worldwide.

Once referred to as “the most photographed woman in the world,she was killed in Paris at only 36 while being chased by paparazzi on the 31st of August, 1997.

5. Paul Walker

The handsome FastFurious actor Paul Walker died in 2013 at the young age of 40 due to an unfortunate car accident in LA. It was reported that he was returning from an event organized by the charity founded for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

6. Philip Seymour Hoffman

Known for his character roles in Scent of a Woman, Twister, Boogie Nights, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and more, Philip Seymour Hoffman was among the best-supporting actors. His role as Truman Capote in Capote earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor. Sadly, he lost his life too early, in 2014, at just 46.

7. John Lennon

The legendary Beatles co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, John Lennon, was assassinated by an allegedly mentally unstable man in 1980. The singer and songwriter had achieved worldwide fame. The ’’Imagine’’ singer was starting to rise again in his career. He was only 40 years old when he passed away.

8. Tupac Shakur—2Pac

Tupac Shakur, or 2Pac, was a legendary American rap artist who lost his life at 25. He was one of the best-selling music artists, with more than 75 million records worldwide.

9. Freddie Mercury

The ’’Bohemian Rhapsody’’ lead singer of the famous music band Queen, Freddie Mercury, was undoubtedly one of the most talented, innovative, colorful, and interesting artists in the rock music world. He left his mark on the music world with his powerful voice, unique style, and personality, topping the US and British charts in the ’70s and ’80s. He died in 1991 when he was only 45.

10. Selena Quintanilla

The Queen of Tejano music, Selena Quintanilla Pérez, or Selena for short, was one of the most influential and celebrated Mexican American entertainers and fashion designers. She got the third spot on Billboard Magazine’s Latin albums and song charts, based on their list of “Greatest Latino Artists of All Time.” Unfortunately, she lost her life when she was only 23 years old.
