Film Flaws: Here Are 13 Movie Mistakes That Only Fans Caught
Believe it or not, many popular films contain mistakes that have gone unnoticed even by the people who made them. We compiled a list of some of these mistakes that even the producers may have missed so you can go and re-watch some of your favorite movies with fresh eyes. Don’t miss these hidden gems and, who knows, you may even spot some mistakes no one has seen before.
1. King Arthur (2004)
This movie takes place around 400 A.D., yet we see the knights on the saddles with stirrups. However, it wasn’t until centuries after the fall of the Western Roman Empire that metal stirrups were introduced in Europe.
2. Avatar (2009)
In this scene, Parker Selfridge, (Giovanni Ribisi’s character), is in the control center putting and there are some inconsistencies with the golf balls. At first, the balls are grouped together behind him, then they change position, and after a second, they are together again.
3. Braveheart (1995)
In the past, the Celtic tribes used blue body paint (woad) during the battles, but it stopped around the end of the Roman era — 800 years before the Braveheart film events. In Scotland, kilts were worn hundreds of years after Wallace’s time. Also, the organized rules for kilts and patterns used in the movie were actually Victorian inventions, which should have been much later than this film’s time.
4. Pretty Woman (1990)
Vivian (Julia Roberts) stole our hearts in the beloved rom-com Pretty Woman. In one scene, while Vivian was taking a bite from a croissant, suddenly, upon taking the second bite, it wasn’t a croissant anymore but a pancake.
5. The Silence of the Lambs (1990)
In the 1991 movie starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins, a camera was spotted appearing on screen, in the upper left corner of the frame. While it might go under the radar for most people, it can be seen as a glaring mistake, showing a bit of what goes on behind the scenes.
6. Dirty Dancing (1987)
In Dirty Dancing, the beloved ’’Baby’’ character went from a shy girl to a confident teenager with her dances and moves. However, something wasn’t just right because Baby’s denim shorts were in the 1980s style, but the movie took place in 1963.
7. Titanic (1997)
We all remember the young and beautiful Kate Winslet as Rose’s character in Titanic. Remember the scene when she raises her head so we can see the beauty mark or mole on her left cheek. Then again, that same mark appears on her right cheek throughout the movie and when she’s talking to Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio). If you haven’t noticed it yet, check it out again.
8. Notting Hill (1999)
One of the unforgettable goofs in this lovely movie could be when William (Hugh Grant) was sitting in a hotel suite across from Anna (Julia Roberts) to interview her. The two wide, brass door handles didn’t go unrecognized when they quickly changed to narrow, brass, and closed-lattice finger plates in the follow-up scene.
9. Little Women (2019)
A modern water bottle can be clearly seen on set behind the actor, even though the events of the movie happen on 1863, way before the invention of the plastic water bottle, which happened in 1973.
10. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
The Harry Potter movie events take place in the 1990s. In the film, Dudley Dursley (Harry Melling) sits in the living room in shorts with the G-Unit logo at the bottom. The fun fact is that it’s a brand that 50 Cent founded in 2003.
11. Django Unchained (2012)
Indeed, Django’s sunglasses made Jamie Foxx’s character look cool in this movie and attracted many of us. The fun fact is that the movie takes place in the 1858s, and those shades weren’t around then.
12. The Danish Girl (2015)
The Danish Girl takes place in the 1926s. In the movie, we see the women in fitted clothes and costumes. Yet, the women followed a shapeless or columnar silhouette in their clothing then.
13. Home Alone (1990)
In the classic movie Home Alone, at around 20 minutes in, when Kevin is getting ready to sled down the stairs the door is first seen open, then the scene cuts to show the door open much wider, and then it cuts to the door as it first was. This one is an easy spot, probably recorded at different times!
