Foods That Turned Out to Not Be As Healthy As We Thought

In our everyday lives, we often neglect good food and eat a lot of snacks. But not all of them are actually good for us.

5-Minute Crafts is going to tell you about the foods that turned out to not be as healthy as we thought.

Pre-made smoothies

Even though smoothies can be a good source of nutrients, not all of them are equally good for you. Some smoothies may contain way too much sugar and fat, and pre-made smoothies may contain not 1 portion but 2 to 3 portions, and it’s hard to know when to stop drinking it.

Protein bars

Whether a protein bar is good for you or not directly depends on its ingredients. Most of them contain “good” ingredients: nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and oatmeal. But some might contain sweeteners (sugar or otherwise), and additives to improve the taste or texture of the bar.

Experts don’t recommend eating the bars that don’t describe their ingredients on the package.

Tea bags

Despite the good properties of tea leaves, using tea bags is not the best idea. Studies show that some tea bags contain microparticles of plastic that may end up in your drink. It’s not clear how they can affect the human body, but who needs extra plastic?

Fruit juice

Not very long ago, fruit juices were considered to be very healthy. But now, a lot of experts have figured out that they are not good for us.

Even natural juices without the pulp don’t contain insoluble fiber, unlike whole fruits and this affects the way the body digests the juice. The fructose from the juice is absorbed very quickly, leaving you hungry and leading to overeating.

To make the drink healthier, diet experts recommend making the juices yourself.

Yogurts from the store

Natural yogurts are very good for you. They are a great source of calcium and protein, and the probiotics have a positive influence on your immune system and intestines.

But not all yogurts are healthy. Many of them contain too much sugar, flavors, sweeteners, and other additives.

If you want to make natural yogurt tastier, add fresh or frozen fruit, and natural flavors, like cinnamon or vanilla.

Corn flakes

Corn flakes are some of the most popular breakfast foods in the world. But eating corn flakes often may also be bad for you. Flavored corn flakes contain a lot of sugar and have a high glycemic index, which may lead to an increase in your blood sugar level.

Dried fruit

Even though dried fruit contains a lot of fiber, vitamins, and minerals, they also have a lot of calories. This means that you shouldn’t eat too much, or they can cause problems. You should also know that a lot of dried fruit is covered with sugar syrup, which makes them more attractive and less healthy.

Muesli

The muesli that contain oats, seeds, and nuts are nutritious and healthy. But experts also say that the muesli with dried fruit may be too sweet and contain too many calories. And muesli from the store may contain different additives you don’t even know about.

Diet Coke

Thanks to advertising, we know that Diet Coke doesn’t contain calories or sugar. But studies show that that doesn’t mean it’s better for the body. Coke with artificial sweeteners may actually make you even hungrier and increase your risk of obesity in the long term.
