It all started with Momoa greeting passengers over a speaker and letting them know that he was present. Surprised travelers could see the famous actor wearing a pink flower in his hair while serving them Mananalu water. Many fans immediately pulled out their phones to document this happening.
An interesting stunt with a great cause
Although the event was accompanied by laughter and joy, the whole stunt has a more meaningful reason behind it. Jason Momoa has been a passionate advocate for reducing plastic waste for a few years now. He’s also been named UNEP’s Advocate for Life Below Water, which fights ocean pollution. One of his projects includes Mananalu Water, a company that sells purified water in aluminum bottles.
A dream that came true
The Aquaman star revealed in the video, which he shared on his Instagram account, that the whole idea started when he was sitting on a plane and saw how many small, single-use plastic bottles were around him. He wondered why there weren’t aluminum water bottles like there are for sparkling water or soda. “I started Mananalu to give people a better option to create a wave of positive change. For every bottle of Mananalu sold, we remove one plastic bottle from the ocean,” Momoa said over the speaker.
An eco-friendly mission that ended with gifts and triumph
By the end of the flight, passengers were in for another surprise. Momoa walked down the aisles and handed out cards for 10,000 miles as a thank you from Hawaii Airlines. “I just want to say thank you for supporting us, doing your part to keep plastic out of our ocean for the next generations to come,” he stated.
Big plans for the future
Momoa stated that during the first 2 months of the Mananalu and Hawaiian Airlines’ partnership, they managed to remove 35,000 plastic bottles from the ocean. “With the help of our partners, we want to remove 3 million bottles this year,” he explained.
The well-known movie star shared how excited he is about the whole project that his 2 daughters support. “We must seek to right the wrongs we have done against our children and grandchildren, turn the tide on our irresponsible stewardship, and build momentum for a future where humanity can once again live in harmony with nature,” he wrote in one of his posts.
